Even those of us who may not label ourselves #Swifties are impressed by the impact of Taylor Swift's #Eras tour. Reports from The Wall Street Journal to local city officials highlight the filled-up flights, hotels, and packed restaurants pumping billions of dollars into the U.S. #economy. AND – true to the Taylor Swift brand and her philanthropic history – there was no way the economic spike would be focused solely on profit. Swift awarded six-figure bonuses to 50+ workers on the tour and made surprise donations to food banks in multiple tour cities, and some of the most sought-after tickets for her shows were sold to benefit charity. My favorite example is our unbelievable Charitybuzz Suite experience at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, which provides dozens of generous customers with the most seamless, luxurious, and exclusive version of the show. By creating the Charitybuzz Suite experience at SoFi, we join the give-back-and-be-kind trend woven through the fabric of Eras and move some of that economic benefit over to charity. Although it's hard to imagine a movement as sweeping as this year's Eras tour, the time WILL come again for a different artist (or sport, film, etc.). When that time comes, we need to remember the scale of this power and opportunity and ensure the charitable impact is built in like it was for Eras. Or, I might challenge us even more so. #SoFiStadium #TaylorSwift #Erastour #giveback

Social Impact and Philanthropy | Community Relations | BEYGOOD Foundation Small Business Grant Recipient
More than 75% of Black-led nonprofits operate with budgets under $500,000 annually, many even manage on just $30,000 a year. These organizations play a critical role in Black communities and across the country. This #BlackPhilanthropyMonth, the YOUNG BLACK & GIVING BACK INSTITUTE calls on funders to do more to support #BlackLedChange in a new report: https://lnkd.in/eHRPrdD6 Here are a few interesting highlights from the report (again, just a teaser!): 📍 Volunteer-Driven: 43.5% of these organizations operate without paid full-time employees, and 45.6% lack paid part-time employees, highlighting their reliance on volunteers. 📍 Founder-Led: Almost three-fourths of the surveyed organizations are led by their founders, who tend to have over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector (52.9%). Thank you to Ebonie Johnson Cooper for including me in this initiative!

General Counsel UK at Deminor Litigation Funding - Speaks on Litigation Funding, Litigation Risk Management and IP Management
Received pronounciation? Accent neutralisation? Do they still exist in the legal profession? Join London Irish Lawyers Association session to discuss in your own voice. Sign up link below. #dei #legal
Does your accent matter and do you need to change it? The rain in Spain may not actually fall mainly on the plain, but do people consciously pitch the way they speak in legal London? Should they? What does it mean when they do? The London Irish Lawyers Association will be hosting an event on this topic on Wednesday 20 March at 6.30pm. Specifically, a great panel of leading lawyers from the London Irish community will be speaking about...speaking and voices (literally and metaphorically), pitching your voice, and succeeding in the legal profession without compromising your identity. We are delighted to be able to hear from Suzanne Todd,Philippa Charles, John McElroy, and Vincent Keaveny. The event will cap off LILA's Trailblazers social mobility programme for 2023/2024, and we hope it will be insightful not just to London Irish lawyers, but also to anyone interested in social mobility and what our voices say. Thanks to Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP for hosting, and if you are interested in attending, the Eventbrite link is here: https://lnkd.in/efr9YS6P

Today we launched Underwriting Souls https://lnkd.in/dZan9cBf an independent research collaboration with Black Beyond Data providing insight into Lloyd's role in Trans-Atlantic slavery. This important research was accompanied by Lloyd's Response, the Inclusive Futures Programme supporting black and ethnically diverse talent, businesses, charities and global impact investment. https://lnkd.in/drPTmV6Z Nothing can compensate for the past but we can be deliberate about creating an inclusive future. If we sought to avoid criticism we'd have done nothing. That was never an option. #inclusivefutures

🎉 Embracing the Privilege of Giving Back🎈 This week, we had the extraordinary privilege of embodying our ethos of community support and upliftment. As the founder and managing director of my accounting firm, I’ve always believed in the power of giving back. This belief transformed into action when we sponsored training shirts for the under 8 Bulletjie Rugby Team at Laerskool Villieria, right here in the heart of the Moot, Pretoria. Seeing these young athletes, their faces beaming with pride (and safely blurred to protect their identities), was a reminder of why we do what we do. It’s about more than just business; it’s about making a difference where we can, in ways that matter. But this is not just our story. It’s a call to action for everyone. Giving back doesn’t always have to be financial. It can be as simple as a smile, a kind word, or a moment of your time. Every act of kindness has the power to make a difference. So, let’s continue to support those around us. Let’s continue to invest in our communities. And let’s continue to spread positivity, one smile at a time. And remember, a day without laughter is a day wasted. So, let’s keep the humour alive, because who knows, the next accountant might just be in that rugby team! 😄 #GiveBack #CommunitySupport #MakeADifference #LaughterIsTheBestMedicine #Aonani

A majority of Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofits operate on less than $500,000 a year, a report finds. Nearly one-third operate with just $30,000 a year. Largely made up of volunteers, 43.5% of the organizations operate without any paid, full-time employees, and 45.65% have no paid, part-time employees. According to the report, Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofits also face unique fundraising challenges, with 86.5% always or often having trouble accessing a large, diverse number of funding sources, and 72.7% always or often challenged to identify or cultivate new funders. Moreover, nearly 53% of organizations indicated they would shut down if they lost one or two key funders. https://lnkd.in/gi_zdani
