Last Thursday, I lost a cherished friend, Jaime, to an act of domestic violence/murder. Her tragic passing leaves behind three young daughters—ages 14, 9, and 4—who now face life without their mother. I had the privilege of meeting Jaime two years ago when she enrolled her daughter in my Girl Scout troop. Her enthusiasm and support helped our troop flourish from just 8 girls to 22, as she encouraged everyone to join and be part of something special.
Jaime was always the first to lend a hand in times of need. Whether organizing a GoFundMe, initiating a meal train, or simply offering a thoughtful gesture—like delivering wine to celebrate a promotion or taking me out for drinks during a tough month—her kindness and generosity knew no bounds.
In honor of Jaime and to support her daughters during this incredibly challenging time, my Girl Scout troop's moms have launched a GoFundMe campaign. Our goal is to raise $45,000—$15,000 for each girl—to help cover essential expenses such as therapy, medical care, and future college tuition. We believe this is a meaningful way to honor Jaime's legacy by ensuring her daughters receive the support they need as they navigate life without their mother.
