The Transforming Immigrant Digital Equity (TIDE) project was born out of a critical need to engage and educate service providers and policymakers in three overlapping spaces: adult English language learning, digital equity and inclusion, and immigrant inclusion. Over the past two years, TIDE has designed and piloted an ecosystem model for equitable English language learning and digital resilience, supported adult education and immigrant service providers’ advocacy efforts around the Digital Equity Act of 2021, and uplifted successful models for technology-enabled learning. Our newest resource, Advocating for Digital Equity: A Facilitator Guide for Catalyzing Immigrant and Refugee Community Members, builds on this work by supporting immigrants’ and refugees’ right to tell their own stories and lived experiences with the digital divide. We center the experiences and expertise of adult immigrants and refugees, and recognize them as not only learners, but also co-designers, subject matter experts, community advocates, and agents of change. The guide is designed for adult education practitioners, staff at immigrant and refugee serving organizations, and other individuals who work directly with multilingual adult immigrant and refugee learners. It is organized into three modules: 1) Learning About and Reflecting on Digital Equity, 2) Collecting Data on Digital Equity, and 3) Using Storytelling for Advocacy. Crinking-Skills Project Updates This month, we’ve made significant progress! We started our research on critical thinking and launched our social media. If you’re not already following us on Instagram (@criticalthinking_project) and Facebook (Critical Thinking Skills For Young Migrants), do it now! Research and Reflection: This first month of research has raised an interesting question: what topics are particularly important for migrants to apply critical thinking to?So far, we have focused on critical thinking applied to migration in general, its representation, fake news on the subject, cognitive biases, etc. While this theme is obviously crucial, it seems more relevant for changing Europeans’ perceptions of migration. New Question: What topics might be more interesting to discuss with migrants, for migrants? We have a few ideas: · Propaganda in times of war · Climate change and its impact on migration Call for Suggestions: We invite everyone following us to suggest topics they find relevant. Your input is essential! Project Objective: Let’s remember that the goal of Crinking-Skills is to create a guide for youth workers working with young migrants, providing them with concrete tools to help these young people strengthen their critical thinking.Thank you for your continued support and don’t forget to follow us on social media for more updates!#CrinkingSkills #CriticalThinking #YoungMigrants #Inclusion #Migration #Education #Empowerment #ClimateChange #Propaganda #FakeNews Kültür Eğitim ve Proje Derneği Arzu KIRAYOĞLU Arda Kırayoğlu Francesco Barzon Elisa Rebelle

🌏 Last week, I had the privilege of engaging in a thought-provoking dialogue with the Minister of International Development and youth leaders from the Atlantic region. Together, we explored the challenges faced by Nova Scotian youth and delved into potential solutions. Our discussions centered around three critical themes: 💠 Integration of Newcomers and Refugees 💠 International Students and Housing Availability and Affordability 💠 Youth Engagement in Rural Areas in Global Affairs These conversation revealed once again, the importance of improving the access to culturally, and youth-tailored mental health services, transportation services, clear and consistent information management and sharing by government entities. #YouthEngagement #CommunityEngagement #Sustainability #newcomers #GlobalAffairs #LocalIssues #Immigration Atlantic Council for International Cooperation Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada

Yes! There are so many bright young minds throughout the world who are yearning to make a difference using digital learning. Climate change is one of these areas that could significantly change the trajectory of women's futures! #digitallearningday #educationforall
📣Today is the first International Day for Digital Learning 💻🎓 During the 2022 #TransformingEducationSummit, the United Nations made #DigitalLearning a priority. In recognition of the growing importance of digital learning, UNESCO Member States have designated 19 March as the #InternationalDayforDigitalLearning, to be celebrated for the first time in 2024. Digital learning has the potential to widen access to #education, improve #learning outcomes and promote #inclusion, especially for those affected by #conflict and #emergencies. Moreover, digital and media literacy is increasingly becoming a key component of basic learning - without which individuals cannot participate effectively and responsibly in social, civic and economic life. At the same time, the digital #divide remains a persistent #barrier for many learners, including #refugee populations often living in under-resourced areas, to benefit from digital technologies. This needs to be addressed as a priority within the #2030Agenda, to ensure inclusive and equitable access to quality digital learning for all! #DigitalLearningDay #SDG4 #EducationForAll #WithRefugees UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency Simplon.co Bouna KANE ⚡ Frédéric Bardeau 🚀 Rebecca Telford Kent Awiti Frankie Randle Seun B. Experience is everything and I have been humbled over the past months by the student group with whom I work. Asylum seekers, refugees, migrants. A label does a human being no justice, and certainly not their experience. The vast difference between what we think we know and the judgemental, throwaway statements that turn into thoughtless, invalidating actions and the reality of each of these fellow human beings´ experiences is not to be guessed at. Through working with those who have ended up (not chosen) in the UK and are grappling with the traumas experienced in their country of origin, journeys and then understanding the systems and cultures in a foreign language, my eyes have been opened to much more than my natural empathy initially could see. I´m not posting to ask anyone to do anything else other than ensure you are educated on, what is, an extremely challenging, divisive issue in this country. Yes, there are far better ways to manage the situation and no, I don´t have the answers. What I can do is encourage every one of us to see those who are seeking safety and refuge here to see the fellow human beings and that, behind their eyes are stories you wouldn´t want to believe are true, let alone imagine experiencing for yourself. The link has simple drop-down answers to some of the biggest misconceptions around asylum seekers in the UK today. Further training and resources are available for anyone who wants to know more or works in an area where they feel this would be useful. Just get in touch and I can share further links. If you got this far, thanks for reading and, if it took a couple of go´s before you did, thanks for remaining curious and open-minded. 😌 😊

The goal of this Project is to foster analytical and critical thinking skills among young migrants aged 18 to 30. The program aims to equip participants with the ability to examine information and ideas logically and objectively. Additionally, it seeks to cultivate open-mindedness and tolerance towards diverse perspectives. A key focus will be teaching effective research and fact-checking techniques, enabling young migrants to distinguish reliable information from misinformation. Importantly, the program will provide opportunities for participants to apply their critical thinking skills to real-world scenarios, such as societal issues, personal challenges, or ethical dilemmas. Through this holistic approach, the program intends to empower young migrants and develop their capacities as engaged and discerning members of society.
