Building Community Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated (or Expensive) Want to strengthen your sense of community while having fun? Here’s an easy, no-cost idea: 🌟 Organize a weekend day trip! Here are a few simple options: Go for a long hike and pack a lunch. Try cold plunging and bring coffee, hot chocolate, and snacks. Plan a group bike ride with stops for coffee and lunch. The key? Mix in a little challenge, add time to connect, and watch your group grow closer. Then, do another one. Communities that regularly make time for small adventures like these find it easier to rally for bigger experiences—like international group trips or retreats. Do you know a group, community or organization that has community dialed in and is ready for the next step? If so, lets chat. #Community #Adventure #GroupTravel #TeamBuilding #AdventureDesk

🌟 FIND YOUR TRIBE 🌟 In life, we all crave connection. But what does it truly mean to connect? "Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship." — Brené Brown For me, connection means finding those I can laugh with, share stories and shenanigans with, and lean on during the ups and downs of life. Whether it’s family, friends, colleagues, or fellow expats, having a supportive “tribe” makes all the difference. ✨ Why is it important? It’s not just about sharing your struggles—it’s about celebrating wins, exchanging advice, and creating moments of joy. Feeling comfortable and understood in a group allows you to truly thrive. 🌍 As an expat, finding your tribe can be challenging, but it’s so worth it. It starts with taking that first step—whether it’s joining a local group, attending an event, or even striking up a conversation with someone new. Do you need help building confidence to take that step and search for your tribe? I’m here to guide you. Let’s work together to help you find your community and foster those meaningful connections. https://buff.ly/3wiWVP0 💛 You’re not alone—your tribe is out there. #FindYourTribe #ConnectionMatters #ExpatsUnite #BuildYourCommunity #LifeAbroad #ExpatsInTheNetherlands #ExpatsSupport #expatchallenge #expatonthemove #expatroots #expatlife #Expatsupport #Globallymobile #Expatexplore #thrivingabroad #belonging #Globalcitizen #newchallenges #outdoorlifecoaching #outdoorcoaching #walkingcoach #newchapter #discovering #expatonthemove #livingabroad #dutchlifestyle #expatlife #utrechtexpats #utrechthotspot #amersfoortexpat

If there is one thing that polar expeditions have taught me, it's my own staggering insignificance. Being a small figure in some of the most remote and extreme environments on the planet is humbling to say the least. That being said, I believe in power of wilderness adventure (in any shape or size) and know how both curiosity and risk builds personal resilience as well as a connection to others. In a sound bite, my goal has long been "to make cold, cool" but my mission is more broad than that. As both a professional adventurer, guide, speaker and photographer, I'm equally as focused on sharing my insights with others. Still, it's a pretty narrow niche that not everyone gets. While I'll never be a social media 'influencer', I do spend a decent amount of time studying social media and how to increase my reach. I enjoy the creative process of trying to be unique while staying true to myself, and at times, putting my own take on a current trend. Recently, I had my first Instagram reel go viral with over one million views. Full disclosure: I would rather be outside than on social media. But like many things as a small business owner, it's not an either or choice today and I am equally focused on the bigger goal of trying to share my knowledge (not just information) with others. I also try not to take myself too seriously... which is reflected, I believe, in most of my social posts. Still, as an observer of Media, it is interesting to study the elements of this post and what factors influenced its far reach. In the mean time, I'll keep on planning adventures and sharing my insights. A million people may see some of my posts today and only a few hundred people will see other posts. Either way, I will still be the same person. https://lnkd.in/gSVDuBVK
Eric Larsen on Instagram: "Whelp? It happens… If I’m being honest, it’s easier for me, at times, being on the ice than trying to function as a ‘normal’ human being in society. For decades, my mind was solely focused on big expedition and polar objectives. While these adventures are physically and mentally challenging, there is also something very compelling about being out on the ice traveling in

𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁: 𝗝𝗼𝘆, 𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗼 You can be a great host, give your best, and still—some people might not show up. 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀; it’s about doing what you love. Giving 100% often brought high expectations and attachment to outcomes, but I’m learning to let go and set boundaries. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱: ✨ 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹. Do you feel rested after a three day weekend? Marissa Solomon Shandell (Research Doodles on Instagram) visually represents the research that we need to do more than just “unplug” to become restored during time off or a vacation. Many of us will continue thinking about tension and problems at work if we do not engage our energy in another way. It is vital that we find meaningful activities during times of rest if we want to prevent burnout and cultivate a thriving life. This can be through relationships, learning new activities, volunteering, starting a project or picking up a new hobby. What ways do you build new connections and meaning making when you are off work?
