🌐 Digital health technologies (DHTs) are changing the way healthcare is delivered and accessed globally. 💡 New findings from DiMe, published in Nature Portfolio, explore how countries are adopting diverse strategies to integrate digital health technologies (DHTs) into national healthcare systems. By analyzing different national strategies, we've identified a "policy full-stack" framework that includes: ▪️ Regulatory authorization: Ensuring DHTs meet safety and efficacy standards ▪️ Product value assessment: Evaluating the clinical and economic value of these technologies ▪️ Pricing and reimbursement: Establishing models that make DHTs accessible and affordable ▪️ Patient access infrastructure: Creating pathways for patients and clinicians to effectively use DHTs This comprehensive approach is critical for scaling DHTs and making personalized care a reality across diverse healthcare settings globally. 📚 Read the findings and learn more about this framework: https://lnkd.in/eFrxHVSB

In December we published a report based on a Roundtable discussion with stakeholders, policymakers, and healthcare professionals from Belgium, Luxembourg, and The Netherlands. The expert panel discussed the readiness, challenges, and opportunities for implementing the EHDS in their respective national healthcare systems outlining recommendations for both national and EU policymakers to move forward with the EHDS in the Benelux: https://bit.ly/3TnyFZj 👉 A pan-European report, which draws insights from our Roundtable Series across Europe, will be launched at the EIT Health Summit in Rotterdam on April 18. 👩⚕️⚕👨⚕️ We need to fundamentally change our healthcare systems in Europe, especially the way how we use data in health. Thus the alignment of European Commission, Council of the European Union and European Parliament towards #European #Health #Data #Space #EHDS will impact everyone's lives, as well as our economic future, in a very positive way. This applies not only to the #primary #use of data (for patient and doctor); biggest impact will be on #secondary #use: 👉 training algorithms, 👉 conducting research, 👉 making informed government decisions, and 👉 developing targeted products and devices. ⛷🌍 🏃♂️ It is important to work cross-border and interoperably, so that citizens can access their data abroad and datasets can be used not only locally but also on a European level . This cross-border data use is crucial for achieving comprehensive and efficient healthcare solutions that benefit from a wide range of data sources and diverse patient information. Even if in my current Siemens position this valuable document feels like work from a previous life, I am truly thankful to my colleagues at EIT Health Germany-Switzerland, Amgen Deutschland, Medical Valley EMN e. V. and Siemens Healthineers! Big thanks to Bojan, Jakob, Marina, Anna, Stefanie, Georg, Nick, Yvonne, Yoni, Christian, Joerg, Sebastian, Birgit, Lisa, Elisa and Astrid for getting this summary report published - even after my departure at EIT Health😇

One of our Program Managers at AC, Marie Eeman had the privilege of attending Healthcare Week Luxembourg, connecting with health care leaders from across Europe. A key theme throughout the event was the growing emphasis on people-centred care, which is the cornerstone of modern health care systems globally. The event also highlighted the transformative role that technology and artificial intelligence are starting to play in health care. There is a lot of hope around AI-powered innovations for diagnostics and decision-making. Another key takeaway was the emphasis on sustainable and accountable governance, ensuring that health systems are transparent, resilient, and adaptable to future challenges. Perhaps most inspiring was the recognition that patients are seen as active partners in their own health. This shift towards shared decision-making requires strong ethical standards and integrated care models, empowering both patients and providers to achieve better health outcomes. It’s exciting to see these global trends taking shape and driving the future of health care.
