As Pride month draws to a close, here’s a little reminder from us 🌈⬇️ Posting your company logo in rainbow colours does about as much to help the LGBTQ+ community as… ➡️ Clicking your heels together three times ➡️ Screlting out some Chappell Roan in the shower 🎤 ➡️ Performing a ritualistic iced coffee dance. It’s fun. But it’s not getting sh!t done. Allyship needs to be active, not just a colourful LinkedIn icon. Especially when this is a group that still battles marginalisation, suppression and discrimination globally. So, here’s some things that *actually* help 📖 Get Educated - Stay informed, understand the history of Pride month and what it represents, and remain conscious of what is going on globally 🏃🏽♀️ Get Active - Vote. Donate to LGBTQ+ charities and organisations. Share campaigns where needed. Put your money and time where your rainbow logo is 👂 Listen - When your LGBTQ team members speak on their experience, preferences or concerns, listen. Be open to feedback, willing to take accountability and flexible enough to make changes when needed ⚡️ Diversify - Hire more queers. Simple. 👀 Stock Up - On oat milk… If you have shared a pretty rainbow picture, or plastered a Pride slogan on an otherwise generic post, never fear. There is still time to make a real difference this Pride month - and all year round, of course. 🔗 in the comments to some useful ressources! Happy HAPPY Pride to each of you from everyone at Electric Cat ✊🌈🌟

Has Pride Month boiled down to just another Marketing opportunity? Let’s address the elephant in the room As we reach Pride Month every year I see Rainbow Logos and pride flags by every brand And I'm sure it's gonna be the same this June. But what’s happening in reality is pure BS → Rainbow Washing: Slapping a rainbow on your logo for June But doing zilch for LGBTQ+ rights for 11 months. → Tokenism: Featuring LGBTQ+ people only during Pride Month, And then vanishing them from campaigns. → Merchandise Mania: Selling Pride-themed products Without donating a dime to LGBTQ+ causes. But at least they’re talking about it na? It’s a start! Um… no it’s not :) Brands talk about LGBTQ+ rights But have discriminatory policies and leaders. This leads to bad branding Because of lack of trust and authenticity. So before going all rainbow crazy in June Try these 3 things out: 3/ 365 days of Support ↳Commit to Queer rights & representation all year. ↳Actions speak louder than your rainbow logos. 2/ Genuine Allyship ↳Support queer employees & communities ↳with real policies & donations, not colorful products. 1/ Be Transparent ↳Be clear about where your Pride Merch profits go ↳Donate to relevant charities and make it public. Brands, it's time to walk the walk. Pride isn’t just a month; it's a movement. 🌈💪 P.S.: Have you ever been to a pride parade?

Faerfield is proud to celebrate Pride 2024. Supporting and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community is more than just changing your company logo. It’s about actions and commitments that make a difference – here are just a few that you can do to get involved. 🌈 Attend Pride celebrations: most cities in the UK have their own Pride celebrations between May and September. Head along – they’re a lot of fun. 🌈 Allyship: be vocal about your support – use inclusive language, challenge stereotypes and stand up against discrimination. 🌈 Volunteer or donate: you can also contribute to LGBTQ+ charities and organisations, either through donating financially or your time. 🌈 Self-education: learn about LGBTQ+ history, terminology & issues; about the challenges faced by the community and about the progress that has been made. Keep an eye on the Faerfield page for more information on how we’re celebrating Pride this year. However you’re celebrating, we hope you have a fantastic time. #faerfield #equality #lgbtq+ #recruitment #inclusive #pride

So when I was doing my weekly food shop, I saw the supermarkets Pride Month marketing that states that they help LGBTQ+ charities and organisations all year around. And yes, it's nice and all that. But I couldn't help but ask - how? How do you help? 🤷♀️ Do you advocate? Do you donate? Do you volunteer, educate, support LGBTQ+ identifying employees, raise awareness, tackle diversity issues? Or do you simply put a banner up saying you do with a big rainbow flag on? 👀 And then I thought - as someone who identifies within the LGBTQ+ community 🏳️🌈 💅 ✨ , how would I like to see the obligatory Pride Month marketing from businesses that aren't just simply rainbow washing. 🌈 Imagine if a business didn't pay big 💸 on printed and digital marketing, the labour time for designers to rainbow wash logos and socials, and any other advertising. Imagine instead, they just put out some pretty basic social posts or even a poster printed out on some 💩 office printer that clearly said: 'The money, time and effort we could have spent on marketing we have instead put into this throughout the year: 👇 🏳️🌈 Educational material distributed and shared. 🏳️🌈 Normalising LGBTQ+ topics and discussions. 🏳️🌈 Supporting LGBTQ+ employees and create a positive internal culture. 🏳️🌈 Directly impacting and supporting LGBTQ+ causes. 🏳️🌈 Share and demonstrate your LGBTQ+ inclusive acts. 🏳️🌈 Actual advocacy and action.' For me personally, that would be way more impressive. What do you think? Your audience matters - and they value authenticity. So please - don't just 🌈 your logo for a month. Do better. #rainbowashing #pridemonth #pride #lgbtq

Absolutely loved reading this on the real issues with Pride🌈Month marketing. It's refreshing to see someone call out the superficial rainbow washing that happens every June. Here are a few highlights that really resonated with me: Rainbow Washing: Just slapping a rainbow on your logo for June doesn’t cut it. True support means backing LGBTQ+ rights all year round, not just for one month. Tokenism: Featuring LGBTQ+ individuals only during Pride Month and then forgetting about them for the rest of the year is not genuine representation. We need consistent inclusion. Merchandise Mania: Selling Pride-themed products without contributing to LGBTQ+ causes is missing the point. It’s about support, not sales. So what can brands do instead? 365 Days of Support: Commit to queer rights and representation throughout the year. Actions speak louder than logos. Genuine Allyship: Support queer employees and communities with real policies and donations, not just colorful products. Transparency: Be clear about where your Pride merch profits go. Make sure donations to relevant charities are public. It's time for brands to walk the walk. Pride isn’t just a month; it's a movement. 🌈💪 P.S. Have you ever been to a pride parade? It's an incredible experience and a true celebration of diversity and inclusion! #pride #pridemonth #marketing #digitalmarketing #brands #merchandise #LGBTQ

Happy Pride Month! 🌈🏳️🌈 Let's celebrate love, diversity, and equality. May this month be filled with joy, acceptance, and respect for everyone in the LGBTQ+ community. Remember, love is love, and everyone deserves to be celebrated and embraced for who they are. 🌈💙💚💛🧡❤️💜 There are many wonderful ways to celebrate love, diversity, and equality during Pride Month! 1. Attend Pride Events: Join local Pride parades, festivals, and events in your area. These gatherings are a fantastic way to show support, connect with the LGBTQ+ community, and celebrate love and equality together. 2. Educate Yourself: Take the time to learn more about the history and struggles of the LGBTQ+ community. Read books, watch documentaries, and engage in conversations to expand your knowledge and understanding. 3. Support LGBTQ+ Businesses: Show your support by shopping at LGBTQ+ owned businesses or supporting LGBTQ+ artists, creators, and entrepreneurs. This can be done through purchasing their products, attending their performances, or sharing their work with others. 4. Advocate for LGBTQ+ Rights: Use your voice to support equal rights for everyone. Speak up against discrimination and injustice, and educate others on the importance of equality and inclusivity. 5. Volunteer and Donate: Consider volunteering your time or making a donation to LGBTQ+ organizations and charities that work towards promoting equality, providing support, and advocating for the rights of the community. 6. Be an Ally: Stand up against homophobia, transphobia, and discrimination. Be a supportive ally to friends, family, and colleagues who identify as LGBTQ+. Show love, respect, and acceptance. Remember, celebrating love, diversity, and equality is not limited to Pride Month alone. It is essential to continue supporting the LGBTQ+ community throughout the year. Let's strive for a world where everyone can live and love freely, without fear of judgment or discrimination. 🌈🏳️🌈❤️

While Pride Month shines a light on diversity and inclusion, a common sight is companies sporting rainbow logos and limited-edition merchandise. This practice, known as "rainbow washing" or "pinkwashing," can have unintended consequences. Initially, widespread corporate support can feel validating for LGBTQ+ individuals. However, the realization that much of this support lacks substance can lead to feelings of betrayal, cynicism, and disappointment. Here's how we promote authenticity: 🌈 Look beyond the rainbow and assess companies' LGBTQ+ rights contributions 🌈 Encourage companies to be transparent about their efforts to create an inclusive workplace. 🌈 Advocate for resources flowing directly to LGBTQ+ organizations. Remember to support LGBTQ+ creators, donate to charities, and hold companies accountable always and not just during #Pride!

Happy Pride Month! Every year, June is our opportunity to celebrate, honor, commemorate, and stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. We take a moment to reflect on the past. We pay tribute. We spend time in community with each other. We dance! We remember that each one of us, regardless of our sexual orientation or identity, is worthy of #belonging. So where do we start the celebration? There are so many impactful (and fun) ways to celebrate #Pride. Here are my top three ways to get involved this month: 1. Get Out There: Be a part of your community. Support your local Pride events. Attend fundraisers, parades, marches, and festivals. Donate your time or money. Write your local legislators. Get involved. And read books! 2. Gain Local Knowledge: Do you know the history of Pride Month where you live? What are some of the struggles and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community in your town or city? What are the some of the issues currently being faced right in your backyard? We need to all be better educated because knowledge is key to change. 3. Be an Ally: Stand in solidarity, whether you're a part of the LGBTQ+ community or an #ally. Use your voice and privilege to always speak up. While going to events and celebrations is always a great time, keep in mind that this month is about the fight for #equality, justice, and the right to be who you are. Let's embrace this spirit of diversity and inclusion during Pride Month and beyond. Because when we do, we create spaces where we can all be free to live authentically and thrive. Because love is love, is love, is love. Happy Pride! 🌈

June’s revelry and rainbows are an important time to celebrate and soak up the beauty and vibrancy of our community, but the queer experience doesn’t exist solely in a month. All year round, each and every day, we here at Kirrin Finch move through the world as queer people and queer allies. It’s imperative that we pause and highlight the work that needs to be done to lift up and protect our rights and safety. Pride started as a riot because our community was under attack, and the need to stand up and fight back is just as important today. Recent threats to our community are meant to intimidate, scare, and prevent us from living authentically. They are very real, and sadly, they are escalating by the day. We’re also disappointed to see a growing trend of companies and organizations shying away from showing up for the LGBTQ+ community due to hateful rhetoric. At Kirrin Finch, we recognize the importance of showing up all year long. We’re living it. We approach our social giveback strategy through three different pillars: donating time, sharing stories and resources with and about the community, and philanthropic giving to LGBTQ+ organizations. Today, we ask you to join us in living with pride every day by celebrating some of our amazing community partners as Kirrin Finch “gives them their flowers!” #futureoffashion #LGBTQ #advocacy #giveback

Here are some tips for supporting the LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month. Remember: using Pride Month to market your business without meaningfully supporting the community is known as pinkwashing. Educating yourself and any staff or volunteers on LGBTQ+ inclusion isn’t just important for your customers, it’s also important for your business. When working alone, attending webinars and reading blog posts regularly will keep you up to date on inclusivity. Make your events more inclusive by having a zero tolerance policy against discrimination and harassment, as well as by introducing yourself or your hosts with their name and pronouns. Use more gender-neutral and inclusive language in your business communications and marketing. Finally, be an active advocate for the LGBTQ+ community by raising funds for LGBTQ+ charities or using your platform to voice your support. ʜᴀᴠᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴇᴀʀᴅ ᴏꜰ ʀᴀɪɴʙᴏᴡ ᴡᴀꜱʜɪɴɢ? As a proud LGBT+ business owner, I'm all about celebrating diversity and inclusivity, we even train people on it! But lately, I've noticed something that's been bothering me: rainbow washing. You've probably seen it too – companies slapping rainbows on everything during Pride Month without really walking the walk or talking the talk. Why? Because it sends the wrong message. It's like saying being LGBTQ+ is just a trend or a marketing gimmick, instead of recognizing it as a part of who we are. As a business owner, I believe in authenticity. That means doing more than just waving a rainbow flag. It means creating a workplace where everyone feels safe and respected, supporting LGBTQ+ causes, and standing up against discrimination. It's not always easy, but it's worth it. That's why at my business', we've made it a priority to go beyond the rainbow. We've implemented anti-discrimination policies, provided diversity training both internally and externally, and actively support LGBTQ+ charities and initiatives. But it's not just about what we do as a business – it's about the message we send to our customers and the community. That's why I'm calling on all companies to do the same. Let's move beyond the rainbow stickers and into real action. Let's listen to LGBTQ+ voices, support our community, and make a difference all year round – not just during Pride Month. So let's roll up our sleeves, get to work, and make it happen. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
