Please take a minute to fill out this important survey. #mentalhealthmatters
Dear Mental Heath Advocates, Please take a moment to complete a new survey on why people are having trouble accessing quality behavioral health care in Florida by clicking the link below. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, April 19. This survey is being conducted for the #MyFLFamilies Access to Care Subcommittee under the state’s Commission on Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder. The Access to Care Subcommittee is working on identifying the most common barriers people face in accessing the care they need. The survey is very short and completely anonymous. If you are a PEER, FAMILY MEMBER, or PROVIDER OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICE in Florida, your input is valuable to this study. Thank you for helping to guide our efforts to improve behavioral health care in Florida! #FLMHAC #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness #FloridaMentalHealthAdvocacyCoalition https://ow.ly/79QW50Rbn8O

WHOOPS! Session in 2 minutes. Therapists, quick vibe check: are you getting enough time for breaks in between sessions? When you’re seeing 8 to 10 clients per day (as one member of our Supervision Insiders facebook community recently said), how do you have time for you?? Therapists, how many clients are you seeing in a day, on average? BIG thanks to @healthinsightcounseling for this one—make sure you give them a follow! . . . . The CSD exists to connect Clinical Supervisors to resources, to new residents, and to each other so that we can change the future of the mental health field. Social Work Student @ Daytona State | Empowering Recovery through Active Listening | Cashier at The Original Stavros Pizza House
Challenging the Dominant Narrative in Recovery As a social work student and peer recovery support specialist, I've seen firsthand how the dominant 12-step culture can do more harm than good for many people struggling with addiction and mental health issues. It's time we stop excusing this reality and start having honest conversations about the need for more inclusive, compassionate, and evidence-based approaches to recovery. The truth is, the 12-step model doesn't work for everyone. Its rigid, one-size-fits-all philosophy can alienate and re-traumatize those who don't fit the mold. We need to accept that this modality helps fewer people than it harms, and stop using the fact that "it has helped" as a justification. As someone in long-term recovery myself, I'm passionate about advocating for a diversity of pathways to wellness. That's why I started the "Shot Out After Dark" Facebook group - a safe, judgment-free space that celebrates multiple roads to recovery. It's time to challenge the status quo and uplift marginalized voices in the addiction treatment and mental health communities. If you're with me, let's work together to create a more inclusive, compassionate future for all. #RecoveryMatters #MentalHealthAdvocacy #SocialJustice
