elliquence launches in Egypt! During our launch in Egypt, Dr. Stefan Hellinger and the elliquence team held multiple events, including a dinner symposium and lecture on various endoscopic spine indications. Additionally, we conducted several live case surgeries, live streamed to the auditorium of each university hospital where they were performed: - 3 cases at Mansoura University - 3 cases at Sayed Galal University Hospital - 1 case at Zahraa University Hospital We proud and excited to see Egypt provide elliquence technology to the surgeons and patients there. Intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) is the current gold standard for biliary imaging during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). However, utilization of IOC remains low. Near-infrared fluorescence cholangiography (NIRF-C) is a novel, noninvasive method for real-time, intraoperative biliary mapping. Patients are administered indocyanine green (ICG) prior to surgery. NIRF-C is used to identify extrahepatic biliary structures before and after partial and complete dissection. Gastrointestinal laparoscopic cancer and robotic surgeon | 50 under 50 Quality leader| top 50 healthcare personality
Pateint satification remains the keys for us. Story of the patient who underwent laparoscopic bilateral inguinal hernia repair for large indirect inguinal hernia. Laparoscopic or robotic inguinal hernia surgery is a minimally invasive procedure used to repair a hernia in the groin area. It involves making small incisions and inserting a laparoscope, a thin tube with a camera, to visualize the hernia. The surgeon then uses small instruments to push the hernia back into place and reinforce the weakened abdominal wall with a mesh. This technique offers several advantages over traditional open surgery, including smaller incisions, less pain, faster recovery, and reduced risk of complications. However, not all hernias are suitable for laparoscopic repair, and the decision should be made in consultation with a surgeon. #theclinics #thankyou #thankful #patientcare #pateintexperience #healthcare #hernia #surgery #surgeryrecovery #delhi #delhincr #doctor

Did you know you can do a "Home-based training for first-year surgery residents: learning to perform an open manual intestinal anastomosis with remote and asynchronous feedback." This study investigates the feasibility of remote training for complex surgical skills using an at-home open manual intestinal anastomosis (MIA) program for first-year surgery residents. Our findings show a trend towards improved performance and decreased procedural time. Additionally, 71% of participants found the feedback helpful for error correction and skill improvement, while 86% reported increased confidence. This research highlights the potential of remote and asynchronous digital feedback in enhancing surgical training, although further research is needed. #SurgicalEducation #RemoteTraining #MedicalResearch #Surgery #DigitalLearning ---

#Visual #Outcome after #Cataract #Surgery in a #South-#Eastern #Nigerian #Tertiary #Hospital A #researcharticle authored by ✍ Gloria C Eze #Abstract #Background: Cataract is the leading cause of reversible blindness worldwide. #Aim: To evaluate the visual outcome of cataract surgeries done in a South-Eastern tertiary hospital. #Methodology: The study is a 2-year retrospective study from January 2021 to December 2022. Case notes of all eligible patients that had cataract surgery within the study period were pulled out and relevant information extracted from them.... #Results: One hundred and eighty-two eyes were analyzed. Visual outcome continued to improve postoperatively in majority of the patients from first day to 3 months and was even better in some when corrected with glasses or with pinhole.... #Conclusion: The overall visual outcome after cataract surgery in these patients did not meet the WHO standard. Thus, there is need for training and re-training of the cataract surgeons, good patients’ selection, in-depth pre-operative work up as well as centre-based provision of needed equipments/ consumables in other to improve the visual outcome. VP of the Brazilian Society of Laser in Medicine and Surgery. VP of the Santa Catarina Society of Coloproctology. Medical director of Academia do Laser. Cdoc Sao Camilo. Laser surgery. Laser is life!
How to produce? The difficulty of reliable meta-analyses and standardization of techniques is already very difficult and time-consuming. How to create intervention groups and control groups? What options do we have??
Founder & leader OpenSourceResearch- Chairperson of cohort studies committee in European Society of Colo-Proctology (ESCP)- Member of Surgical Steering Committee in European Crohn Colitis Organisation (S-ECCO)
The complex nature of surgical research Randomized controlled trials #RCT in #surgery are difficult, expensive and take long time to recruit. When the results are there, they are debatable and the surgical #practice either moved away (as in case of laparoscopic surgery) or stay unaffected (as in case of bowel preparation). How to tackle this? This was a talk delivered in #Portsmouth conference 2024 The take home messages: 1. We need better #data 2. We need better interpretation of #data 3. We need dedicated #research I would like to thank Jim Khan for his kind invitation as well as the team in #Portsmouth for their great efforts to make this trendsetting conference Guglielmo Niccolò Piozzi also Andrew, Seyad, Najaf et al It was great to have many good discussions with colleagues Jared Torkington Frederic Ris Michel Adamina Nuha Yassin Eloy Espin Lars Thomas Seeberg #AfsanaElanko #KhadijaZouari #CarolineKovacs #Patricia Tejedor et al
