📌 One of the largest consortiums to date within the Horizon Europe framework – with 75 partners – has launched: TwinEU project kicked off on 15-16 January 2024.  📌EIMV, #MilanVidmarElectricPowerResearchInstitute, as one of the partners within this project, will contribute to the entire project and the Slovenian pilot, with competences and its own expertise in the domain of management, operation and modeling of the electric power systems, development of data models and ensuring data interoperability between systems and stakeholders. TwinEU is a flagship project for the implementation of the EU Action Plan: Digitalization of the Energy System. H2Electro and Enefit Solutions have signed a memorandum of understanding, paving the way for future collaboration in advancing hydrogen production technology. This partnership holds promising potential for bolstering Estonia's energy security.   H2Electro and Enefit Solutions are commencing collaboration on the development of an electrolyser, a device necessary for hydrogen production. The electrolyser's role is to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity.   H2Electro is developing solid oxide electrolysis cells, and in 2024, the company has progressed from laboratory testing to real-world implementation. Enefit Solutions complements this by developing the surrounding systems, integrating H2Electro's components into the electrolyser. Initial phases involve testing small-scale electrolysis cells to assess their productivity and reliability. The experiences gained can then be applied to larger-scale systems. Negotiations are being held within the cooperation agreement to open up specific development projects and create products based on them.   This collaboration with Enefit Solutions is a significant step forward for H2Electro, leveraging local expertise for efficient product development. GO15 is the association of the very large power grid operators, which serves more than half of the world’s electricity demand. The association was created in 2004 with a view that transmission grid and a resilient power system are key to energy transition. GO15 is dedicated to high level exchanges among industry leaders and offers opportunity to address major strategic and technical issues affecting the safety, the reliability and the sustainability of power systems. GO15 endeavours to promote bilateral and multilateral international collaboration to prepare a sustainable future. GO15 Governing Board and Steering Board meetings were hosted by Grid Controller of India Limited, at New Delhi on February 22-23. Twenty-six industry leaders from ten global organisations gathered for the meetings. In alignment with the ancient Indian philosophy of “वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam)”, that World Is One Family and it has a shared future, GO15 meetings are a collective, global effort to build networks, navigate global power sector challenges, share expertise, and forge collaborative solutions. The focus of the business community’s annual flagship conference #Tuulelohe lend 2024 was on Estonia’s ambition and the drivers of competitiveness. It resonated very well with my views captured in the op-ed published on the same day: Estonia is at the advent of the next growth cycle. Ambition: GDP per capita at market exchange rate 50,000€ in 10 years. In autumn 2022, I first met Kaj af Kleen in the lobby of a temporary office to discuss how to do data and analytics for a new secretive climate tech initiative with massive ambitions. I was immediately convinced, and joined the small group of people first days of 2023. All sharing the level of enthusiasm over making a climate impact with tech, building a product and a company, and solving hard problems. We're excited to share the latest updates from the ETEKINA project! 🌍💡 At SIJ Metal Ravne, we're committed to sustainable solutions that benefit both our community and our planet. 🌍🌡️ Since 2016, we've been harnessing excess heat from our electric arc furnace to heat the municipality of Ravne in Koroška, covering up to 40% of its heating needs sustainably. 🏡 Now, with the ETEKINA project, we're taking our commitment to the next level! By utilizing flue gases from the Allino furnace, we generated 420.4 MWh of remote heating energy in 2023 alone, while also returning 847 MWh of heat to our roll-heating process, reducing natural gas consumption by 4%. 🍃 *The ETEKINA project is being developed in collaboration with the Jozef Stefan Institute and international partners. Schneider Electric is its best kept secret. In this weekly post I am sharing what great things this company is doing for the #water industry, and specially towards helping achieve #SDG6 to ensure access to water and sanitation for all.   I am frequently challenged that #SmartWater solutions are complex, often expensive, and that they can only be afforded by big water customers serving millions of inhabitants with big #ITOT budgets. In my first post of these series, I started with Anglian Water Services, a massive customer, but then I followed with posts highlighting medium sized utilities, serving a few hundred thousand inhabitants such as Padania Acque S.p.A. or Acqua Novara.Vco SpA, and medium to small sized utilities, serving just above 100,000 inhabitants such as Roslagsvatten or Frederiksberg Forsyning A/S.   This customer story I am sharing today is one of my favorites. Međimurske vode is a public utility that provides water & wastewater services in the area of Međimurska županija, serving a population of 105,250 inhabitants. During a customer event in Croatia in May 2023 I had the chance to speak to its CEO, Suncana Glavina, and its Head of Operations and Technical Director, Bruno Palašek. They both shared with me that it is their own motivation to be digitally mature, as they firmly believed this would make its company more efficient and more resilient. Nobody was forcing them to invest in digital solutions, and they were not very much incentivized by central government to become more digital. It was their own decision, on their firm belief that they would be saving more water, more energy, more chemicals, using less man-power, hence reducing their #Opex in the long run.   A great example of a medium to small public utility investing in #SmartWater and reaping its benefits. And very honoured that this company is using our #EcoStruxureWaterSimulation (formerly #Aquis) as its #digitaltwin for drinking water distribution network, and using AVEVA #SystemPlatform as water & wastewater operations management and optimization platform, alongside Schneider Electric's #EnergyManagement and #Automation equipment.   Check this great success story in this video: https://lnkd.in/eSe3NTPd #smartwater #digitalwater #digitaltransformation
