Thanks to the Hertsad for their great coverage of our recent £50,000 funding boost from CPL Aromas, which enabled us to appoint our new Community Support Manager, Harley Scott. Harley’s crucial new role is allowing us to provide better support services and more positive outcomes for our current and new companions, the formerly homeless people living in our community home. Harley will be leading our support team to provide our companions with specialist tailored support for complex needs such as addiction and trauma, as well as increasing wellbeing activities. The latest donation is in addition to £25,000 donated to us by CPL Aromas last year which was also used to strengthen our support services for companions. A huge thank you to CPL Aromas for their incredible support! 🙏 💚 https://lnkd.in/e84xXSkP

Our housing program is a critical component of the homeless to homeowner continuum. Housing is a foundational necessity for anyone and everyone. The availability and accessibility of affordable housing for individuals recovering from addiction and/or former incarceration is extremely limited. What started as a nudge from God to serve the most vulnerable, allowed us to change the trajectory of six adults’ and two children's’ lives through dignified housing and fellowship. This may of been our calling, but we cannot do it without you! 🤝 Make an impact today by donating to our mission on our website: https://lnkd.in/dsQdEKfh Or via Venmo (NEW!): @FTG2018 📢 Share and talk about our mission with your friends and family. ❤️ Practice compassion and empathy toward your fellow humans. We are at record numbers of unhoused individuals in many parts of our country. You may have someone in your life living in these circumstances and not even know it. #HousingIsARight #RecoveryRequiresResources #SecondChances #TransitionalHousing #HousingProgram #EquitableHousing #CommunityBuilding #CookCountyHousing #PathToPermanentHousing #HomelessToHomeowner

Next week on Thursday 7 March, my colleagues and I are taking part in the LandAid SleepOut to raise money to help support young people who are homeless. In 2022/2023, nearly 136,000 young people approached their council as they were homeless or at risk of homelessness. The cost of living crisis has had an immense effect on all of us. This has been felt even more acutely by young people facing homelessness. Reports from the charities that LandAid support have mentioned that they're facing not only a homelessness crisis, but a mental health one too. Young people facing homelessness need our support more than ever. LandAid bring the property industry together to support charities delivering life-changing services for young people who are or have been homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness in the future. Your donation will help ensure that young people are brought in from the cold this winter. https://lnkd.in/e8-MqZwJ

You can start to make a difference today. Educate yourself on the issues and share what you’ve learned with your friends and family. Understand that people don’t choose to be homeless. Circumstances beyond their control, for a variety of reasons, have brought them to this way of life. If you’re comfortable, smile and say hi to the homeless person you often see on the corner, or on your way to work. Make eye contact if you can and say a few words to acknowledge and reaffirm their humanity. Most importantly, we can make a difference together. Please give the largest and most meaningful gift you can that reflects your values and your desire to join CUCS as part of the solution to homelessness. cucs.org/donate. #cucsnyc #homelessnyc #supportivehousing #makeadifferencedecember #transitionalhousing

[Homelessness in Manchester] Will you make the difference today? I’m proud to be a Trustee of the Booth Centre, a community centre in Manchester run with people affected by homelessness. As our 2022-2023 Impact Report shows, we’re making a difference to 1,000+ people annually. Section 21 no-fault evictions reached an all-time high in 2023, with more than 7,400 cases being brought before the courts. Added to this, anyone receiving a positive outcome to their asylum case is served with a 28-day notice to quit. But our resources are limited. We urgently need donations to ensure we can continue to provide for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness - Breakfast and lunch - Training and help to gain employment - Support to improve health and wellbeing - Access emergency accommodation and to secure and maintain a permanent home And many more things. As an independent charity, we rely on the generosity of our community. ASK: Would you help us and donate today? https://lnkd.in/ea6P-iEx #ESG #CSR #SocialValue #SocialImpactBusiness #CorporateSocialResponsibility #Manchester #Homelessness

The latest figures from the government regarding homelessness tell us that over 300,000 households (at least) were assessed as homeless at the end of 2023. That’s a 14% increase on the figure we saw in 2022. It equates to an additional 38,100 people who are now experiencing homelessness. As we know all too well, homelessness comes in many forms, and the figures demonstrate a steady increase across the board. For example: ⚫ A 26% rise in rough sleeping - 3,000 people each night. ⚫ 279,000 families and individuals ‘living’ in temporary accommodation. ⚫ 20,000 people in supported accommodation or hostels. Ultimately, for too many people in 2023, the most wonderful time of the year was sadly a continued period of uncertainty, anxiety, and instability. It's seeing figures like these that only make the team here at Simon on the Streets even more determined to make sure this isn't the case by the time we reach Christmas 2024. As we near the end of our Christmas Appeal, any donation or support you can give would be greatly appreciated. #donations #donatenow #support

I am once again asking for your help. September is National Suicide Prevention Month. I know it's a dark topic but we need to talk about. In the USA alone, we lost around 50,000 people in 2023 and even more have attempted and even more than that suffer from mental health issues and suicidal ideation. There is a good chance that you are either directly or indirectly impacted by these facts. It may be you, a loved one, a coworker, a neighbor, etc. who is struggling. Maybe you or someone you know has lost someone. We need to openly talk about this subject. We need to bring it out of the darkness and into the light so that we can help everyone who is struggling. Life is precious and NO ONE should suffer alone. What's the ask? PLEASE DONATE and help me raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - San Francisco Bay Area chapter. The "Out of Darkness Walk" is on September 14 for San Francisco. You can donate via the link below. Even $5 can make a huge difference. If everyone who followed me donated $5 we'd have around $35k. https://lnkd.in/gEXPtUia If you are in the USA but do not live in San Francisco but still want to get involved, check out afsp.org to find your local chapter and see the ways you can help make a difference. If you are not in the USA, look into what your country or city offers. #nationalsuicidepreventionmonth #letssavelives #outofdarknesswalksf

Our CEO needs your help to reach her target 😁 Homelessness is real, and we all can make a positive impact. Please share, donate and spread the word - no one should sleep in the cold this winter. Every donation, helps get a homeless person off the street, have access to a hot meal, and programs to help them get back on their feet. Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. But it doesn't have to be that way. To help break the devastating cycle of homelessness, we need your support. Will you help our CEO to reach her target? Donating can make a huge difference to people who need it most. Together, we can make a difference! Let's do this! https://lnkd.in/gweVWi6M #homelessness #support #awareness #impact #ceosleepout
