R U OK? is a public health promotion charity that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times in their lives. The subject of mental health is at the core of many government-funded grant programs. This week we look at an opportunity issued by the Department of Health Victoria in support of Women's health support groups. This grant is available to provide funding to assist non-government women’s health organisations to deliver women’s support groups that aim to improve women’s understanding of their healthcare journey, create a safe space for sharing women’s lived experience and minimise effects of any stigma women experience. Successful recipients will share $500,000 per year over a 4-year period between 2023-27. Julie Mikhail . . 📣 Calling all voluntary, community or social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in Thanet! 🤝 You may have already heard about the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). It’s a fund from central government, aimed at reducing inequalities between communities. 🙌 We want to use the UKSPF to support and celebrate your work as best we can, so that you can continue to support your community. 📝 The first step in this process is to get a better understanding of the great work you’re doing and the challenges you’re facing. To do this, we’ll be asking you to complete an online survey. 🙋♀️ The survey should take a few minutes to complete, and it contains questions about volunteers and finances, so it should be filled out by someone with a good knowledge of the organisation. 👉 You can complete the online survey at https://lnkd.in/ezWQrxP2 - it will be open until Monday 6 November 2023. 👍 As part of the UKSPF programme, £300,000 of the UKSPF funding is allocated to the Shared Prosperity Grants Fund. This funding will be distributed amongst the district’s VCSE groups through a competitive process. It is important that community groups complete the survey so that they can be contacted about the next steps in applying for funding.

Director at Shreeve Care Services Ltd providing assistance with CQC Registrations, healthcare business development specialising in live in care and working with local authorities on varying projects
THE PRICELESS VALUE OF REALLY GOOD ADVICE One of the things I want to promote in my business this year is my offering of an advisory service. With this in mind, I’d like to particularly mention Care and Support West. They are an organisation that works to support the care sector, and I’m the Live-in Care adviser on their board. I’m very grateful to have been asked to join this organisation and I’m very much looking forward to being involved. Care and Support West's role is to inform, represent, celebrate and influence change for the direct benefit of the sector, their membership and individual businesses. Basically, they are a representative body for companies, charities, organisations and individuals working in social care, support and health sectors in the West of England. They meet up with the CEO of Care England (a national organisation), Professor Martin Green who has direct links to Government. They also meet up quarterly with the Regional head of the CQC (Care Quality Commission) which is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. There are many benefits which come from being a member of Care and Support West: For Care Providers: · The benefits of representation · Support – ways to keep up to date with news and best practice. · Networking with other providers in your sector · Help your business to meet local authority and national regulator assessment and monitoring needs. For Commercial Partner Membership: · Support to develop your business, whether already working in social care, or just starting out. · Making connections with a growing network. · Opportunities to promote your services to an engaged and relevant audience. An example of how my role will work is practice is that if a member or client would like to know how Live-in Care works - I will be stepping up to provide solid and practical information. Using my expertise, I will be able to help them find the right outcome for their situation – by looking for choices and funding available to them for care. Many people don’t realise that they can stay in their own home and have carers living-in, supporting them with day-to-day needs, and even be on call if required. This is a very viable option which is often not considered or even discussed. This is where I can help, because talking to people, I can aim them towards the right provider for their particular needs. If you’d like to know more do drop me a message her or you can find out more from the Care & Support West website.

*Attention please* Posting for Community Health Environment Empowerment Organisation (C.H.E.E.O). Among other items, I previously cowrote and costed a Sustainability Proposal and Budget for their fundraising activities. These items included a two year Action Plan for an interdependent sustainability project (e.g. the three pillars - health / environment / economic - rural income generating activities) for a specific community region in Uganda, Africa, close to where C.H.E.E.O operate. We showed how the defined 'real outcomes' would address the initial assessment of their 'specific problems'; and 'which SDGs' these real community outcomes would meet (defined via collaborative consultation with C.H.E.E.O, community leaders and non-profit international steering group arm). C.H.E.E.O work on the ground based on real community outcomes for rural areas, which is essential (with everything going via community leaders). Without revealing too much: the project focuses on things like education, social care, healthcare, vulnerability programmes, resilience, health and environment education/equipment, equity and access, healthy/native food programmes & markets that address specific gaps, clean and safer water access, and so much more. Should you wish to donate a little to support this valuable community project that C.H.E.E.O continue to take forward (as i am not working, but previously contributed heavily), please do so by adding your 'pledge for donation' to their form, to donate below. C.H.E.E.O and our business positive arm, appreciate it. From C.H.E.E.O: “Thank you again for your kindness in offering to make a very generous donation to CHEEO. Kindly complete the questionnaire at this link to commence the process of verifying your identity: https://lnkd.in/eCxGMjXx. The questionnaire is in 3 sections - click "Next" or "Back" at the bottom of a section to move between the sections and don't forget to click "Submit" once you have completed the questionnaire. We will be in touch once we have received your responses to the questionnaire”

Specialist Consultant and Mentor for Not For Profit Sector Leaders Covering: Fundraising, Strategy, and Evaluation.
STRATEGIES FOR MEANINGFUL BENEFICIARY ENGAGEMENT IN NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS When beneficiaries actively participate in the development and implementation of services, it not only ensures that their needs are met but also fosters a sense of ownership and empowerment. The following suggestions can help ensure beneficiaries are meaningfully engaged: 1) By collaborating with beneficiaries and involving them in the initial stages of service development, organisations gain valuable insights into the unique challenges and needs of the community. 2) Co-design workshops and focus groups provide a platform for beneficiaries to actively participate. These sessions enable open dialogue, allowing beneficiaries to share their experiences, preferences, and suggestions for improvement. 3) Surveys, interviews, and community consultations allow organisations to gather diverse perspectives and ensure inclusivity. These methods empower beneficiaries by giving them a voice in decision-making processes. Moreover, they help in identifying gaps in service provision and areas for improvement. 4) Investing in capacity building and training equips beneficiaries with the skills and knowledge needed to engage in service co-creation and implementation. By providing opportunities for education and skill development, organisations enable beneficiaries to become advocates for change. 5) Advisory committees comprising beneficiaries ensure ongoing dialogue and collaboration. These serve as a platform for sharing feedback, evaluating service effectiveness, and addressing emerging needs. 6) Robust feedback mechanisms are crucial for continuous improvement. Whether through suggestion boxes, online surveys, or feedback hotlines, organisations must provide accessible channels for beneficiaries to express their opinions and concerns. 7) Encouraging beneficiaries to volunteer or participate in peer support programmes fosters a sense of community and belonging. Engaging them as volunteers or mentors, organisations harness their skills and lived experiences to support others facing similar challenges. 8) Leveraging technology such as social media, mobile apps, and virtual forums facilitates broader engagement and participation. Digital tools enable organisations to reach a wider audience and collect real-time feedback. 9) Recognising and celebrating diversity is essential for fostering an inclusive environment. Non-profit organisations should strive to represent the voices of marginalised groups and ensure that their perspectives are heard and valued. 10) Regularly monitoring and evaluating the impact of services is vital for accountability and learning. helping organisations assess the effectiveness of interventions and make data-driven decisions. Furthermore, sharing success stories and highlighting the contributions of beneficiaries helps to inspire others and build momentum for change. #charity #community #socialenteprise
