#EndFGM - On this International day of zero tolerance for female genital mutilation (FGM), did you know that girls today are one-third less likely to be subjected to FGM compared to 30 years ago? However, progress needs to accelerate to meet the global target of eliminating FGM by 2030. In 2024, nearly 4.4 million girls – more than 12,000 each day – are at risk of female genital mutilation worldwide. In Burkina Faso, Enabel worked hand in hand with communities, local women's associations, NGOs and ministries to optimize the awareness-raising strategy and eradicate the practice. Do you know that women's health is not limited to reproductive issues? There is so much more! The First Lady of Uganda, Janet Museveni, has launched the Protego Women's Optimal Health Framework, Uganda in collaboration with The Institute for Women's Health. The initiative aims to address pressing health issues that affect women all over the world, including maternal mortality, cancer, HIV/AIDS, and child marriage. This program highlights a comprehensive approach to women's health, including community-wide interventions, spiritual well-being, and emotional and mental health. As one of the panelists in this launch, I believe nations should implement diplomatic, legal, health, and education policies that are consistent with their commitment to valuing women, families, life, and sovereignty. It is crucial to strengthen our health systems resilience to accommodate this vision. With the 1st Lady Uganda Her Excellency Janet Museveni; 1st Lady Gabon Her Excellency Zita Nguema, President of The Institute for Women's Health (IWH)-USA Valerie Huber and other panelists; Dr. Lisa, Dr. Monique, Ms. Agnes, and Ms. Anita. #publichealth #womenshealth #PROTEGO #healthsystemsstrengthening #thoughtleadership

📽 Watch below to hear how a learning program can make all the difference in equipping UN staff with the tools they need. 👋 Meet Hind M A Hassan Abdelgalil, Country Director, Rwanda at the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). Recently, Hind was an esteemed participant in a highly customized programme, Leading for Transformational Change, co-designed by UNSSC and UNAIDS. According to participants, including Hind, the programme made an impact by: 🔹Connecting UNAIDS Strategy to the #2030Agenda, bridging the gap between Global Aids strategy and the #SDGs. 🔹Empowering UNAIDS leaders to communicate the organization’s value proposition while confidently addressing strategic challenges. 🔹Addressing the needs of new staff members, cultivating deep knowledge and practical skills. 🔹Shifting mindsets towards partnerships opportunities to help inspire action globally. As the UN System Staff College, we constantly evaluate how we can improve the learning experiences we co-design and facilitate. We are delighted to work with a variety of #UN staff and look forward to accompanying the third cohort of the Leading for Transformational Change course on their learning journey, which launches this month! #UNSSC #LearningForImpact #UnleashYourPotential #SDGsAction #GlobalAidsStrategy

Happy International Youth Day from WOJE Today, we proudly celebrate International Youth Day, recognizing the boundless energy and potential of our youth, who represent 73.6% of South Sudan’s population. Their enthusiasm and vision are crucial to shaping a brighter future for our nation. At WOJE, our mission goes beyond celebration—we are dedicated to empowering women and girls, advocating for essential policy changes, and combating gender-based violence. Over the past five years, our efforts have led to significant achievements, including the implementation of vital hygiene and HIV prevention programs and the advancement of critical policy reforms. Today, we also reaffirm our commitment to the principles of frameworks such as UNSCR 1325, CEDAW, and the Maputo Protocol. These frameworks are crucial for safeguarding rights and ensuring justice. Additionally, we are focused on the localization of these regional and international standards into South Sudan’s National Action Plan, ensuring they are effectively integrated and implemented. As we celebrate the potential of our youth, we also call for greater involvement in decision-making and advocacy. Together, we can drive forward these crucial changes and build a more equitable society for all. Join us in this vital mission and in celebrating the incredible potential of our youth. #InternationalYouthDay #Empowerment #SocialJustice #WomenForJustice #WOJE #YouthPotential #PolicyAdvocacy #CEDAW #UNSCR1325 #MaputoProtocol #ChildAct #NationalActionPlan
