Shaa Wasmund MBE "The Rise of The Female Entrepreneur" summit at the London Stock Exchange yesterday was inspiring as it was empowering. The 'funding gender gap' is a stark reality with men receiving 6.2 times more funding in 2023 compared to women. Bottom line; this disparity drives systemic bias and hampers genuine diversity and inclusivity in business. There is no sense or sensibility when the performance of women-founded companies speaks for itself. According to a Forbes article, companies in First Round Capital’s portfolio founded by women outperformed those founded by men by an impressive 63%. The venture capital arena remains predominantly male-controlled - as Shaa said, "we need to start seeing more women on the other side of the table" - like Samira Ann Qassim and Saloni Bhojwani from UK VC for female founders Pink Salt Ventures. Here's to every single woman and man in the room, driving this agenda. Change is not just necessary; it's imperative. 💪 Brenda Emmanus OBE Trinny Woodall Ruby Raut Vanessa Vallely OBE CCMI Sarah Turner Emma Thackray Ellie Webb 💃🏽✨ Sarah-Jane Butler Antonia Philp Bill Morrow (Angels Den) Kerry Dwyer David B Horne Heather Black Claudine Reid MBE Jennie Bayliss Louise van Haarst Graham Rowan Sophie Luck Janet Coyle CBE Jonny Seaman Olivia Jenkins Susan C. What a surprise! Bertha Gonzalez Nieves & the Tequila Casa Dragones I know what I will be drinking today to celebrate. 🥂 And as I do, I will be toasting you and all the women in front of and behind the making who Don’t Stop! #InspiredByYou every single day! “Women are trailblazing into #entrepreneurship and making things happen on their own terms.” Source in repost: https://lnkd.in/eRgBM2fW “In 2022, companies with 1 or more female founders raised $44.6. billion in VC. Only 16.3% of VC went to companies with at least 1 female founder and all-women teams received only 2.1% of #venturecapital, with Black women and Latinas raising less than 1% of VC combined. Public companies with female CEOs outperformed the stock price of those with male CEOs by 20% within the first 2 years of a woman taking #leadership. Yet, in 2021 – a year that broke the record for the most IPOs led by women – still, only 0.01% of all U.S. IPOs were led by female CEOs.” Cake Ventures source in this repost: https://lnkd.in/eG-d2UtM “Just 10.4% of Fortune 500 companies are led by women, the same number as last year. When it comes to companies led by Black women, that number shrinks to less than 0.5%.” Source: https://lnkd.in/eshgqGqt Daniel Villao h/t for sending to me! “Forbes hasn’t had many opportunities to speak to Black women who have founded $1B+ companies from the ground up, outside of #sports and #entertainment. They can count on one hand the number since their founding in 1917. I am among those 3. Honored. Grateful. Driven.” Fawn Weaver #OnRepeat source in repost: https://lnkd.in/eyFdeZmP #Talent is an asset class. #Together we must reshape the #narrative, shift #power and #InvestDifferent! #storytelling #economy #entrepreneurship #boardsofdirectors #diversity #equity #inclusion #beverage #leadership #business #money #cultureofmoney

Directing Impact Capital to Maximize Purpose and Profit | Founder @ImpactableX (Techstars '23) | Tory Burch Fellow | FastCompany 2021 World Changer
Today, I had the opportunity to watch the ChangeNOW panel on "Mobilizing Kickass Investors for Women Entrepreneurs," led by ⚡Anne Ravanona of Global Invest Her. It was empowering to hear about the trillions of investment the panel aspires to mobilize for female-led companies and funds and, of course, their commitment to measure it. "When you start counting, you know what you want to change." ~ Marijn Wiersma, 2X Global According to pitchbook, in 2023, "Women Founders Raised [$34.4B,] 23% of All US VC Money in 2023," a record-high despite an overall slowdown in VC funding activity. This kind of growth comes, at least in part, from the kind of leadership demonstrated at ChangeNow, including Anne, Marijn Wiersma, Stephane Bourbier Founder & Managing partner Asterion Ventures, and Helena Wasserman, CEO & Founder Unstoppable. Fundraising is never easy, but I look forward to the day when we all feel a comparable degree of difficulty. Thank you for creating space for the conversation and handing the mic to a few of the leaders ChangeNOW.
