Will the UK Ministry of Defence’s objection be the final nail in the coffin for this bi-directional green electric power link? In the case of US aviation, the success of over 7% of the national GDP relies on it. This Jacobs research only reinforces that. We're seeing a greater need to focus significant grid upgrades to large-scale high-voltage interconnector projects in order to unlock the global energy transition - with direct relevance ranging from AI-driven data centers to EV giga factories.  

A microgrid is a self-sufficient energy system that operates independently or in conjunction with the main electrical grid. It is designed to serve a specific geographic area, such as a community, university campus, military base, industrial facility, or remote village. Here are the 3 key characteristics of a microgrid: 1. Local: A microgrid is delivers energy by generating power close to those it serves, making it more efficient than central grids which loses as much as 8% to 15% power in transit. 2. Independent: Microgrids can operate independently, disconnecting from the central grid. Power can still be supplied to customers in case of a power outtage to the grid. 3. Intelligent: A microgrid is an advanced system that operates by a controller, working to meet specific energy goals set by the microgrid's customers. The Washington Post - "Amid explosive demand, America is running out of power" Fantastic for some of the great Jacobs work to be referenced in this article. Our Enterprise Mobility/Xcel Energy 'Airport study' concluded that with a doubling of electricity demand at most US airports (and their surrounding "ecosystem") by 2030, an urgency exists to get utility grid connections underway as these can take 7-10 years to deliver! I would personally argue that its not that #America is "running out of power", its more a case of "no transition without transmission" (and distribution) to get the power to where its needed at the volume required !
