Ireland faces a critical challenge in disability employment, with the lowest rate in Europe at 32.6% compared to the EU average of 51%. This stark disparity is more pronounced for women with disabilities, of whom only 15% are in full-time employment. With fewer than one-third of people with disabilities in Ireland employed, a concerning trend of underrepresentation in the workforce exists. An inclusive and diverse workforce ensures people with disabilities are not put at a disadvantage or treated less favourably. Employees should feel safe to talk about disability and request necessary adjustments.
