Chipotle Mexican Grill landed in the top 5% of all companies in the 2023 American Opportunity Index, here are three practices that helped them get there: 💡 Chipotle's core company tenant is that investments in its employees are good for business. 💡 Chipotle focuses on development from within. 💡 Chipotle connects employees with education and training opportunities. "We're working to drive a culture where we reach down and pull people up. Each one of us in this organization had someone along the way in our career journey that really helped mold us, guide us, and develop us into the people that we are today. We have a distinct responsibility to do the same or give the same effort to every single person that makes the choice to join our brand," said Scott Boatwright, MBA, Chipotle's COO. Last year I shared a post about a couple of “Cool Chix” I serendipitously met during an event at Compass Group USA headquarters. Tracey Richardson (left) is the CEO/co-founder of Lilly’s of Charleston, and Miffy Jones (right) is the owner of Miffy’s Foods. Through the magic of the Foodbuy USA Supplier Diversity Accelerator program and the Eurest USA Better Together program, these women-owned businesses have partnered together to pair Tracey’s sensational seasoning and sauces with Miffy’s amazing all-purpose baking mix on chicken nuggets (“Cool Chix”) and wings (“Fly Chix”). Who doesn’t like food that is both cool and fly! So imagine my delight when I crisscrossed paths again with Tracey and Miffy last week during the Eurest and ESFM Supplier Diversity Summit – “The Power of Intentionality and Partnership” – at Truist Field in Charlotte. A robust mix of representatives from minority- and women-owned businesses came together with Compass leaders and supplier partners to share conversation about growth, distribution strategy, and solutions to the challenges they face on their journey. As Miffy noted during one of the panel discussions, “We’re creative people and we just want to create good stuff.” That good stuff also includes a commitment to inclusivity, making people feel like they belong so that they can be the best version of themselves, and employing folks from the local communities we serve so that our partnerships thrive and endure. Food is at the core of what we do here at Compass – engaging in a way that has meaningful impact is what gives us sustenance. #enchantment #sustenance #dei #eurest #foodbuy #compassgroup

Recently, we completed beta testing for our e-learning program with a group of executives, HR specialists, and middle managers in corporate foodservice. Developed specifically for our industry, our digital program will give companies a deeper understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism to attract racialized talent, increase employee retention, and create more resilient businesses via self-directed modules and small group sessions. Here’s some of the feedback we received: ▶ “It was helpful to understand the structure of DEI by showing what steps can be taken and how they need to evolve over time.” ▶ “I was pleasantly surprised by the expansiveness of the program because it starts with your own feelings and that’s what it consumes most of the work. I liked that the program acknowledged the difference between feeling uncomfortable and being offended, because once you address that you can get people to start thinking about how they can do the work.” ▶ “ I really appreciated the data aspect because everyone is so focused on being driven by insights and data, but nobody talks about how the data can be flipped, which is often a missed opportunity for other DEI training that I’ve been involved in.” Our next step is to run beta testing with a small group of restaurant owners, management, and BOH/FOH leaders. If you're interested in joining this beta group, come find us at the #RCShow to add your business to the list. Business Development Manager, Helping companies to incentivise employees & customers with market leading rewards
So last week we visited the CIPD #FestivalofWork in London. We spoke to hundreds of amazing people professionals about #reward and #recognition, cost of living support and a whole bunch of other amazing things. We also let every visitor to our stand spin the wheel. Whether it was £5 or £50, we sent the prizes out as Prezzee smart cards, giving the lucky winners the choice of redemption at hundreds of retailers. So this brings us to a really interesting question, just what do HR professionals like when it comes to a little treat? Well it turns out the list is varied, 37 different retailers have been chosen so far… Coming in at number 4 with 2% of redemptions we have John Lewis & Partners, because who doesn’t like John Lewis? At number 3, it’s Just Eat Takeaway.com at 3%, no one wants to cook after 20k steps around #ExCel for the day Number 2 is Tesco with 7%, it’s just convenient, isn’t it? And the absolute winner? (and in one of the most exhausting professions out there this shouldn’t be a surprise) Costa Coffee coming in with 9% Special shoutout to the £50 winner choosing Miller & Carter-we like your style.
