Wind energy in #estonia 🇪🇪 is growing! It was great to hear such positive messages at the Estonian Wind Power Association conference today, with developers of onshore and offshore wind projects sharing their thoughts on where the sector is heading. Wind energy is needed in Estonia to meet the target of 100% renewable energy production compared to consumption by 2030. The Kliimaministeerium / Ministry of Climate of Estonia have also confirmed ambitions for reaching 120% renewable production by 2030, based on current estimates, to account for growth in energy consumption. Türkiye have recently released a new auction after a silent period for renewable energy. See below the locations and project sizes. Note 1: RES means wind energy plant, GES means solar energy plant. Note 2: It says 2024 projects in the header but auctions will take place within 2025 Q1. What makes this announcement different than previous ones is: the government also declared that there will be official commitment to release a 2GW auction package (wind+solar) every year till 2035. 🏗 The first #windturbines are going up in our largest wind farm in #lithuania! We erected the first 230-metre wind turbine in #Kelme I wind farm (80 MW) located in Western Lithuania. A total of 14 wind turbines will be installed, which will start producing about 270 gigawatt-hours of #renewable #energy per year. The erection of the wind turbines started in February and, as of today, the first one has reached its full height. The height of the tower of the wind turbine is 140 metres and the height of the peak is 230 metres, so the erection of 14 turbines will take several months. 📅 ⚡ “During the construction of the wind farm, several works are carried out at the same time, for example at the moment we are also building the last roads and foundations of the wind turbines. The construction of such a large wind farm requires #goodplanning , #accuracy and good #cooperation with subcontractors. We will do our best to be able to start producing #greenenergy in the new farm by the end of this year. The farm should be fully completed next year,” claims Lauri Ulm, the Head of Wind Developments at Enefit Green. ☘ Kelme district is one of the largest regions of renewable energy development in Lithuania and the three-part Kelme wind farm will in turn be Enefit Green's largest development project in Lithuania. 

New Wind Project in Romania We are thrilled to share the beginning of the construction phase of a new wind farm to our renewable energy portfolio. Located in Deleni, Vaslui County in eastern Romania, this wind farm will have an installed capacity of 140 MW. Given the high wind potential in eastern Romania, the estimated annual production of the park is projected to reach 370 GWh. This energy will be sufficient to power approximately 62,000 households annually. Moreover, once operational, CO2 emissions of 215,000 tones will be avoided annually. Currently under construction by PPC Renewables - ΔΕΗ Ανανεώσιμες, the project features 23 GE Vernova wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.1 MW. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Odfjell Oceanwind, Source Galileo, and Kansai Electric Power Company have received NOK 2 billion in funding from Norwegian government agency Enova for its GoliatVIND floating offshore wind project. The 75 MW demonstration project is planned to feature Odfjell Oceanwind’s Deepsea Star foundations and five 15 MW wind turbines. The offshore wind farm will be connected to the Goliat platform, utilising the existing power cable to shore. The project is planned to be put into operation around 2027. This is great news as this will equate to producing roughly 320 kWh of renewable energy annually to the Hammerfest region which is the equivalent to the energy consumption of around 12,000 Norwegian households. 👏 learn more - https://goliatvind.no/ #goliat #goliatvind #renewableenergy #windpower #windenergy #windturbines

You should be keeping an eye on this year!   This week - OranjeWind 🌪 ☀   The 760MW Offshore Wind Farm located 53 kilometres from the Dutch Coast is set to power more than 1 million households annually across the Netherlands.   RWE, the developer of this highly interesting Offshore Wind farm have a plan to integrate a combination of innovations and investments to achieve a perfect balance of supply and demand,   These innovations include floating solar panels, a subsea lithium-ion battery and a LiDAR system to predict power production more accurately. Additionally RWE will invest in onshore system integration, such as electrolysis capacity and e-boilers, to match power generation and offtake.   The offshore floating solar technology RWE are utilising, as developed by SolarDuck, establishes a new frontier for solar energy and provides an answer to increasing land scarcity for the generation of renewable energy. Development and works on the OFS systems and the components of the €8.4m (£7.2m) project, supported by €6.8m from the Horizon Europe programme, have already started, making this the world's largest floating solar farm. With the project well underway, it is expected that OranjeWind will start producing renewable electricity in 2027! This is definitely an exciting project to watch this year. 🗓📌 The Road to 2050 - SEAI Offshore Renewable Energy Technology Roadmap Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has published its roadmap mapping out the pathway to harnessing Ireland’s ORE potential. The report concludes that fixed and floating offshore wind should play the dominant role in providing energy from our ocean. Galetech agrees with this conclusion and what’s particularly interesting in the report under one of its scenarios is that in order to achieve our 37GW ambition by 2050, 10GW of fixed offshore wind and 27GW of floating offshore wind will be needed along with 11GW of hydrogen electrolysis and 13GW of interconnection. It’s very encouraging to see some of the findings of the report show the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) for floating wind technology approaching that of fixed wind technology over the next decade. While there has been great work on a raft of policy issued over the past year or two by DECC and government agencies, in light of the recent delay to the finalisation of the South Coast DMAP and consequently the ORESS2.1 auction, there is a timely reminder in SEAI’s report that it is important for Ireland to solidify frameworks for offshore #RenewableEnergy soon to reduce uncertainty.
