As electric vehicles become increasingly common on our roads, we face new challenges in car repair and maintenance. Currently, the aftermarket for EV batteries is limited, and specific knowledge and training are required to repair high-voltage batteries. This is a sustainability issue, both economically and environmentally.
Earlier this year, the European Parliament introduced a directive for consumer products aimed at facilitating repairs, access to spare parts, and more to help consumers get products repaired. A similar directive for vehicles is a great next step, says Oskar Gibas Hjertquist, Head of International Sales at MEKO.
Lars Bergmark, CEO of Svenska Fordonsbranschen, emphasized in an article earlier in June in Motormagasinet SE the need for more repair options and easier access to parts to avoid unnecessary costs and high insurance premiums. We at MEKO fully support this initiative and look forward to contributing to a solution where all types of workshops can work with electric vehicles.
MEKO's training company ProMeister Academy has, to meet the growing need, developed three different levels of high-voltage training to ensure that more workshops have the knowledge to perform both minor and major repairs. This is in addition to the high-voltage training provided in today's vehicle mechanic education.
To meet the needs of the future, we must work together for broader education and access to spare parts. Let us create a sustainable and fair future for all car owners and workshops.

We agree the vans look great! (We are biased too.😄) It's been a great experience working with such a fantastic and dedicated team. Looking forward to continuing our partnership this year.
