Co-Founder and Managing Director of IAMH | Head of Operations at Wellity Global | 2024 Rising Star of the Year Finalist - Great British Businesswoman & We Are The City Awards🧡
Wow… what a whirlwind week it’s been! I would just like to say a really heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us and reached out since we announced the official launch of IAMH - International Advocate for Mental Health, your enthusiasm and encouragement has been truly amazing. Now, one of the most common questions we’ve been asked so far is ‘What makes IAMH different from other mental health first aid courses?’ and so I wanted to give you all a quick snapshot below. 🧡 IAMH is globally consistent. In short, this means that no matter where your employees are located, they will all be able to participate in the same advocate course, creating global consistency for mental health support in your organisation. Plus, we're IIRSM accredited. 🧡 We manage the global delivery, communication process, onboarding and scheduling for you. We know how time consuming it can be coordinating global initiatives and that's where our team excel. 🧡 It's universally understood. Available to be delivered in any country and any language, IAMH ensures that anyone within your organisation has the ability to become an advocate. 🧡 We offer ongoing support after initial training to advocates so we can reinforce learning, provide opportunities to address new challenges and ensure they stay updated on best practices. In essence, we’re the perfect solution for global companies looking to implement mental health advocates within their organisation. Drop me a message if you want to learn more! P.S. can we all take a minute for the incredible branding courtesy of the team at FUZE Agency 😍 #MentalHealth #UniversallyUnderstood

Meet our MHFAider Olivia Charlick who manages and supports the Mental Health First Aid Team we have in place here at Britton and Time Solicitors. 👏 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐢𝐝? Very early in my career, I encountered people with poor mental health and witnessed first-hand, the impact this had on individuals, their families, their colleagues, and other aspects of their life. I wanted to understand more about their experience and how my role in HR could support them. Training has helped me become more confident in guiding and educating managers, colleagues and most importantly, the individual. 𝐈𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬? Gaining the trust of my colleagues to discuss such personal and vulnerable topics is very rewarding. Knowing that I am contributing to their journey to good mental health, whether a small part or a significant part, is comforting. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟? As a mental health first aider, we are not there to be a superhero and fix everything. We cannot find solutions for everything. Ultimately, we are there to listen, guide, support, and signpost. It is so important that MHFA’s do not sacrifice their mental wellbeing and it is integral that we practice self-care too. #brittontime | #mentalhealth | #mentalhealthawarenessweek | #mentalhealthfirstaider

During #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek it's significant, now more than ever, to remember that mental health first aid is just as important as physical first aid, and that people should speak out when they need support. That's why, at Connect Health, we’ve invested in training over 20 colleagues to become Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) through MHFA England. Our network of MHFAs compliment the range of other tools we have in place through our 'Boost' healthy workplace programme, which supports the mental health and wellbeing of our wonderful colleagues. Mental Health First Aiders are trained volunteers who act as a first point of contact for anyone who is experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress, of a work-related or personal nature. These interactions can range from having an initial conversation, to supporting and signposting individuals to get appropriate support. Becky Robson, Chief People Officer, shares: "Mental Health First Aiders in the workplace serve as compassionate guides, fostering a supportive environment where individuals feel heard and valued. Our investment in our network of MHFAs is an essential step towards a healthier, more resilient workforce as we drive forward our People Centred approach." “We don't need it yet” or “we don’t have those issues here “ 🙄🤦♀️ Are some one of the excuses I hear from employers when I ask them about training their staff in mental health first aid (MHFA). I’ve had conversations with managers and supervisors who are responsible for teams of people, who have done training in management, HR, leadership and ZERO training in mental health. I think that’s absurd. Imagine asking for help or talking to your manager and you get a misinformed or stigmatised comment? It can be crushing and in some cases have huge consequences. Learning how to have a supportive conversation, where to go for additional support and help is crucial and something many people don’t know. So if you haven’t trained your team in mental health first aid.. what are you waiting for? #mhfa
