Crisis De-escalation Training Program Specialist, Coach, and Senior Consultant @ Insight Strategies Inc. in partnership with Curtis Boyd & Associates LLC
In advocating for a cause, one must persist until detractors turn into supporters, even if it means going beyond their formal role. Your value is set by your impact; it was never in the title. While advocacy may entail personal sacrifices and strain relationships, the eventual impact can be profound. For instance, the push for de-escalation training for transit organizations, which was later mandated by the FTA, exemplifies how unwavering advocacy can lead to positive change benefiting various public servants. This story underscores the notion that perseverance in advocacy can result in substantial gains for society at large, making the sacrifices worthwhile in the end. If you thought my advocacy and promoting mental health for public servants was about me, you missed the message! #marysson #publicservant #CIT #crisisawarenessprogram #operatorsafety #crisisdeescalation

How much more evidence do we need that the system is broken? This is for sure about damaged staff finding a safe place to unleash their cruelty. But it's also about school systems and structures built on selfish ambition and violence - cultures that default to anger, blaming and gaslighting, as LIFEWirral's statement about the BBC News Panorama's expose demonstrates. https://lnkd.in/eTQX3RQC And it's also about Ofsted inspectorate systems that are not fit for purpose, reporting that LIFEWirral was a 'safe and nurturing environment that leaders have created' https://lnkd.in/e-nMge8X. This is a trauma spiral reaching all the way to the bottom. Time for overhaul. Time for systems change. Time for the new. https://lnkd.in/e8vp9JAm

Research has shown active bystandership to be a powerful means of preventing a variety of serious public harms. Like any human behavior, active bystandership can be taught and learned. A special section of Psychological Services, a publication of APA Division 18, examines active bystandership and presents bystander interventions to prevent harm, promote social justice, and foster well-being. Read the open access introduction to the section: https://bit.ly/3VLfCuB. #bystandereffect

Director - Restorative Practice specialising in Conflict Resolution, Conflict Prevention, Inclusion and Behaviour
https://lnkd.in/eZQnzsmj Here's Michelle, our Director, talking about our upcoming Restorative Practice for Families, Parents and Carers course. There are many reasons why families sign up with us. Here's just a few problems that people have shared in the sessions: - a teenager who was persistently excluded from school - a primary child who struggled with anger and 'temper tantrums' - a Year 7 who was too anxious to attend secondary school - a family where conflict was a part of everyday life and who wanted a more harmonious house. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an experienced restorative practitioner to gain expert advice and guidance on how to support your child. It's backed up by evidence-based theory that can be applied to many different scenarios and will transform how you see your child's behaviour. To join us, simply visit https://lnkd.in/e3T6WWTU and follow the link to register.
