#JHAAN2024 Update » 🌟 As this year’s Chair of the Justice and Home Affairs Agencies Network, eu-LISA is all about boosting inter-agency collaboration! Recently, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming colleagues from our sister agencies – the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), Frontex, and the European Union Agency for Asylum – EUAA – to our headquarters in Tallinn as part of the JHAAN Staff Exchange Programme. 👍 It’s been an exciting time, full of fresh ideas and reflections on best practices. Working side by side, we've actively shared knowledge and discovered new ways to achieve our goals together. This collaboration has been a brilliant opportunity for mutual learning and growth – and we're just getting started! 🙏 A huge thank you to Niamh Webster, Katarzyna (Kasia) Chudzinska, and Nina Trifunovic for being such fantastic visiting colleagues. We can’t wait to see what’s next! 😎 #StrongerTogether for #ASaferEurope #JHAAgencies

Thanks for hosting me in Estonia! It was great to have the opportunity to work in another EU agency. As someone new to working for the EU, it's a chance to more quickly get to grips with multi-lateral governance structures and how it all works with Brussels and the network of agencies. Sharing across borders is an essential part of what makes the EU unique. It's also, incidentally, a big part of what makes an international career in the EU institutions so valuable. eu-LISA are all about transparency. They work on technical digital issues - AI in asylum monitoring systems, biometrics, cloud technology, quantum computing - you name it. It's highly specialist. My work at the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights is about raising awareness of people's human rights. Yet what we have in common is producing reliable and trustworthy information. In a digital world where we're all content creators, that is something so important.

UPR | Are you working on an 'other stakeholder report' for the Universal Periodic Review, due 16 July 2024? Our human rights data can help! If you're writing about #Kazakhstan, #Fiji, or #Angola, we have a full set of data you can draw on: - scores for how well your government is respecting 9 different civil and political rights - scores for how well your govt is respecting economic and social rights, including food, health, education, water, sanitation, housing, work, and income - information on which people groups are at extra risk of rights abuses, or are missing out on enjoying their rights. If you're submitting on #BiH, #ElSalvador, #Italy, #Madagascar, #SanMarino, #Iran, #Iraq, #Gambia, #Slovenia, #Egypt, or #Bolivia, we have economic and social rights scores as above, that show how well your government is doing, taking into account the resources it has. This can be a powerful push-back if a government protests that it's just doing the best it can with constrained resources. For more information on using our data in the #UPR, check out this handy article: https://lnkd.in/gvmhtqV9 And all the data are freely available for UPR use on the Rights Tracker: RightsTracker.org

This report provides an in-depth background analysis to complement the “Policy Paper: Proposal by the Regional Civil Society Consultation for the ASEAN Guideline on the Placement and Protection of Migrant Fishers and Their Families” which was consolidated by BEBESEA and the Human Rights Working Group Indonesia (HRWG) in October 2023. The ASEAN Declaration on the Placement and Protection of Migrant Fishers adopted at the 42nd ASEAN Summit held in Indonesia, in May 2023 was a significant step forward, following active advocacy of civil society organizations and workers’ unions. We sincerely hope that this report will provide deep insights into and analysis of the current situation of the rights protection of migrant fishers and will contribute to future policy making and implementation to ensure rights protection for migrant fishers and their families.
