PLEASE WRITE & CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES & the Whitehouse to demand that they stop helping Israel kill and starve children, commit war crimes, and maintain its brutal and racist apartheid, with our tax dollars. Please also watch and share this new interview of Jewish-American Prof. Jeffrey Sachs explaining how Israel is continuing its genocide in Gaza, blatantly ignoring the U.N. International Court of Justice. He also explains how we, the U.S., are complicit in this genocide for funding it and providing the weapons, and how Israel is trying to get us into a war with Iran, against our national interests (8 minutes from Feb 17, 2024 interview): https://lnkd.in/gNHwwyhJ And do you really want a foreign country to have this much control over our government? Professor John Mearsheimer from the University of Chicago explains the extraordinary control that Israel’s lobby has over our politicians and government, and how it is bad for both our country and Israel (11 minutes from Feb 15, 2024 interview): m.com/watch?v=syB9THtXd7M To really understand this horrible conflict, you have to put yourself in the shoes of an average Palestinian refugee (most of the 2.2M people in Gaza). What would you do if someone stole your house and livelihood, killed some of your family members in the process, left the rest of you with nothing, and forced you to live in the squalor of a refugee camp? That is what Israel did to over 750,000 Palestinian in 1948, over 300,000 in 1967, and over 250,000 since then, and more every year. Most of the families in Gaza owned homes, farms, or shops where Israeli cities and towns now stand, which Israel literally stole from them. Many still even have the keys, and some homes still stand with Jewish immigrants living in them now. And even when Palestinians have tried to protest peacefully, Israel would shoot them in the knees, kill, or at least imprison and beat them. If you don't believe it, please read this 2020 Haaretz article titled: '42 Knees in One Day': Israeli Snipers Open Up About Shooting Gaza Protesters. It describes how IDF snipers would shoot many peaceful protesters in the kneecaps and ankles to cripple them, while shooting and killing many others, including journalists and medics: https://lnkd.in/g4VqQRzs I also cry for the 36 innocent Israeli children killed on October 7th, but this horrible conflict did NOT start on that day. The proof is the nearly 2300 Palestinian children Israeli soldiers and settlers killed between the year 2000 and October 2023, including 43 children during the 9 months just before October 7th (all names & details documented on BTselem.org). Not to mention Israel’s brutal 57 year occupation/apartheid, and the blockade of Gaza since 2005 — both illegal under international law, and simply immoral and inhumane.

It was insightful and inspiring to connect with fellow Aussies to discuss infrastructure, technology, economic security, and geopolitics. Australia's geographic location in the world, which was once (unfairly) described as 'tyranny of distance', has become one of its greatest strengths, located in the beating heart of the dynamic Indo-Pacific region. Australia's insights and analysis of the region are highly prized here in DC and it was a nice refresher to hear them after 10 years living in the U.S.! We discussed Chell Lyons and Roland Rajah's work to increase economic security in an age of instability by creating a new MDB. We explored Alexandre Dayant's industry-leading research on development assistance across SE-Asia and the Pacific. We shared how The Wilson Center is leading thought leadership on international infrastructure development, discussing challenges such as private capital mobilization for infrastructure and the upcoming re-authorization of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation. What's clear is that the same thinking that got us into the age of crisis cannot get us out of it. We need visionary ideas that are genuinely inclusive, sustainable, and resilient, coupled with bold action. Today's discussion proved that we aren't short of visionary ideas. Thanks to Mark Kennedy for organizing and hosting.
Great discussion with between The Wilson Center's Wahba Institute and Australia's Lowy Institute - Rory Linehan, Sam Barr, Roland Rajah, Alexandre Dayant, Dr. Prashanth Parameswaran, Chell Lyons, Jeff Kucik.

There is no disputing that Generative AI is part of our future, but is it one which will define us or ruin us? Even now at this early stage of its use it is said to already account for 1% of all of the world's electricity usage.. Eric Zie will share his views on this and more at this upcoming King's College London panel. Get along if you can.
