Great awards event last night with so many inspirational programs. New this year is our Chairs rising leader award that celebrates rising leaders. Defining your individual leadership style and developing the strengths needed to advance your career is a journey. Last night we celebrated Tyler Tunic who was selected as the winner of the rising leader award. The #natgas industry is ripe with rising leaders like Tyler, finding the right motivation is key to seeing them soar - curiosity, insight, engagement, and determination must be nutured. Giving high potentials the right development opportunities, like participating in-person to form life long relationships is just one manner of ensuring these talented professionals stay in natural gas. There are 8 traits crucial for executive positions: results orientation, strategic orientation, collaboration and influence, team leadership, developing organizational capabilities, change leadership, market understanding and inclusiveness—these are essential to executive performance. Southern Gas Association is dedicated to proving these growth opportunities though committees and training programs like #ANGE and All-Access and celebrating our young professionals as they grow.

For Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re highlighting the experiences that have shaped our leaders. Fernando Hualde, VP of Sales & Operations for Latin America Production and Automation Technology division, grew up in Venezuela with parents who immigrated from Spain. Early on, he learned the value of resiliency and adaptability, which were crucial traits for a young family settling in a new country. Those ingrained values have guided him through a decades-long career in oil and gas, where he has worked across various segments, including drilling, completions, and production systems. His experiences have enhanced his understanding of the industry's challenges and enabled him to collaborate with diverse teams. Each role has taught him the importance of cultural sensitivity, effective communication, and adaptability, qualities he relies on to lead his team and empower others by demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
