Make your voice heard for sheep welfare! The Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Sheep is being updated for the first time in a decade and you can help create progressive change for sheep welfare! From NOW until July 25, take a few minutes to submit your top three concerns about sheep welfare. Issues could include inadequate shelter, painful procedures, weaning, and more. Please note that the Code only covers on-farm issues; issues related to transport or other areas are not considered. Answers must be polite, less than 14 words, and written in your own words. It was indeed a cherished experience to have participated in the Global Food Regulators Summit 2024 as a panelist on the invitation of the Food Standards & Safety Authority of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The panel discussion was on the important subject of hidden hunger, and food fortification as a strategy. 📣 The second European ChickenTrack Report is OUT!  Measuring food companies' progress towards the higher welfare requirements of the Better Chicken Commitment (BCC), the European ChickenTrack holds companies accountable and helps drive significant welfare improvements for the billions of chickens reared each year across Europe.    Some take-aways:    🐔 While companies are reporting on their transition to higher welfare more than in 2022, the majority of companies are falling behind on progress for two key criteria: moving to slower growing breeds and reducing stocking density;    🐔 Of the 85 companies analysed in the European ChickenTrack 2023, 55 are reporting on their transition progress, 21 for the first time in 2023. But 30 companies are yet to start reporting;    🐔 Norsk Kylling is the only company to have achieved 100% compliance in all BCC.    The industry needs to do more to ensure higher welfare for chickens across Europe.
