Today at work, I was given the opportunity to create a space for families to learn about the curriculum and child development in general. This is still a WIP, but I'm excited because family engagement is important to me. We hear so often about the research done that states that by the time children reach the third grade, any head start from preschool is dissolved. Honestly, I absolutely believe that to be true. The reason that I believe it to be true is because in ECE we place so much priority on the child alone, but it's the family that deserves to be the highest priority. The biggest difference we make shouldn't just be with the child, we need to make the bigger difference with the families. If we teach families how to advocate for their children, they will be their child's most powerful ally throughout their schooling. If we encourage families to engage in the classroom setting, they will consistently be that parent that a school system can count on to volunteer or to be heavily involved in their child's education. Sadly, as infant, toddler, and preschool teachers, in most cases, there will come a day where the children we taught no longer recognize us. After all, they will have many more teachers throughout their lives. Do you know who will remember you, and the difference you made? The family. Families and children aren't two separate entities. You aren't abandoning children by placing a stronger priority on familes. Children are a part of families. The work you do with the entire family will go a much longer distance and will be the greatest benefit you can provide children overall. So, I hope I can finish this project this month, and I hope it sparks conversations with the families we serve. #familyengagement #earlychildhoodeducation #earlylearning #childdevelopment #earlychildhood #earlyyearseducation #earlychildhooddevelopment #family

🌍👂 Happy World Listening Day! We all know that the family is the first teacher to a child. But do you know how important it is to REALLY listen to your family's concerns and expectations? It's not a nice-to-have perk for educational communities; it's a must for effective communication between educators and families, which is crucial for creating a supportive and inclusive environment for children. When our family's concerns and expectations are not met, they will question if their child is in a safe environment, which is valid. When teachers genuinely listen, they: 🔹 Build trust and strong partnerships with families 🔹 Understand each child's unique needs and strengths 🔹 Create tailored educational plans that foster growth and development 🔹 Ensure that parents feel valued and heard, strengthening the home-school connection The power of listening helps to make every child's educational journey successful and inclusive. Together, let's create a brighter future for children. #inclusionmatters #childdevelopment #earlychildhoodeducation #worldlisteningday #inclusivechildcare

A soft reminder...💗 To ensure that "no child gets left behind and every child makes good growth," educators must stress the importance of involvement, equal opportunities, and a supportive environment built on strong connections. These are vital in early childhood education for fostering children's growth, learning, and well-being. Patience Osinaike #improvingearlychildhood #earlychildhoodeducation

Early childhood interventions have a lasting impact on a child's development and future success. We start in the home through ParentChild + and their amazing support, after 96 visits, they gain access to our bilingual preschools. By investing in early education and support programs, we can positively influence children's cognitive, social, and emotional development. These interventions provide a strong foundation for learning, leading to improved academic outcomes, higher graduation rates, and increased earning potential later in life. We are so grateful for Cabarrus County Schools and Cabarrus Partnership for Children, who show up everyday, tirelessly, to assist in child development. Let's prioritize early childhood interventions to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. #EarlyChildhoodEducation #InvestInKids #earlychildhoodinterventiion #parenting #power #solvingchildcare

Deciding to switch from working in schools to private practice wasn't easy, but it felt right for me. In schools, there are so many kids, and it can be tough to give each one the individual attention they need. I loved my time there and learned a lot, but I often found myself wanting to do more for each child. In private practice, it's all about that one-on-one connection. Talking to parents every day also helps me understand what they're going through and how we can work together. I get to hear about the struggles they face and help them find ways to support their child. It feels good to be there for them, not just as a professional, but as someone who understands their journey. Yes, private practice comes with its own set of hurdles -llike keeping up with schedules and always aiming for the best results. But it's worth it. Seeing the kids make progress and knowing I played a part in that is the best feeling ever. It's what keeps me going every day. Private practice gives me the chance to make a real impact, not just in the lives of the children I work with but in their families' lives too. It's about being there, understanding, and helping to build a better future What are your thoughts about this ? #PrivatePractice #ChildDevelopment #ParentSupport #SpecialEducation #MakingADifference

As young students begin their educational journey, they are bound to face multiple challenges. Toddlers are going to start their first year in playgroup and nursery classes. This is a monumental change in not only in their lives but in the lives of the parents as well. While they were used to their kids being with them all the time, now both the child and the parent are going to have to get used to a short separation. Separation anxiety usually arises in first-time school goers but can also be seen in older kids. The prospect of being away from their parents causes children to fear. However, it is very important to overcome this fear by both the child and the parent. Here are some practical tips that you can use to settle the child and prepare them for school: 1. Talk to them about what they should expect at the school. Let them know that they will be going to a new place, meeting new people and eventually returning home to you. 2. Do not threaten them using the teacher as an excuse. This creates a negative perception of the school and teacher in the child's mind. 3. Trust the teacher and the school. Early childhood care providers are adept at handling children experiencing separation anxiety. Work with them to help your child settle in. #education #earlychildhood #earlychildhoodeducation

Should you have a second child? Is your first child “developmentally ready?” Is there an optimal time for a sibling? Or a certain way to introduce your first child to their new baby sibling? Is it ever a good time to have another baby? Does developmental readiness matter? Is it a real thing? OK, we may not need to structure our family planning around our first child’s developmental stages–that may be going a bit far!–but we certainly can take into account their developmental readiness for many other things: the need for a consistent daily schedule, the desire to do physical things for oneself, and the desire for conversations with a live, caring adult. Meeting children’s needs where we can, relieves the places where we cannot. A lesson from Montessori: notice your child’s developmental stage; it could make life easier! #childdevelopment #development #children #haveasecondchild #montessorihome #parentingwithmontessori #parentingquestions #montessori #stagesinlife #humoraboutkids #parentinghumor
