What impact will a big breakfast have with just a little bit of fruit on the side? Day 6 explores the impact of mixing proteins with fat and fruits. Spoiler: The impact was not huge and was short lived with 30 minutes to peak and 30 minutes longer back to baseline. So, lesson here is mix fruit with proteins and fasts and don't 'over indulge' in the fruit. Artical about LIVER FAILURE Acute liver failure refers to the development of severe acute liver injury with impaired synthetic function (INR of ≥1.5) and altered mental status in a patient without cirrhosis or preexisting liver disease [2-4]. A commonly used cutoff to define acute liver failure is an illness duration of <26 The Acute Liver Failure Study Group (ALFSG) is a clinical research network funded by the National Institutes of Health since 1997, to gather important prospective data and biosamples on this rare condition. Acute liver failure is loss of liver function that occurs quickly — in days or weeks — usually in a person who has no preexisting liver disease. It's most commonly caused by a hepatitis virus or drugs, such as acetaminophen. This is also called “decompensated cirrhosis” — your body can no longer compensate for the losses. As liver functions begin to break down, you'll begin to feel the effects throughout your body. Chronic liver failure is a gradual process, but it is eventually fatal without a liver transplant. Dr. Smith said, "It is clear that we need a concerted, multinational effort to make meaningful progress in our understanding and treatment of these mostly rare and heterogeneous kidney diseases. We need to identify biomarkers of complement activation and dysregulation, standardize their measurement, and promote their global implementation...This collaborative approach will enable us to offer early, accurate diagnosis and safe, effective, and affordable treatment tailored to individual patients." Dr. Vivarelli said, "The presence of patients and their caregivers was invaluable. Their stories and experiences brought a profound human element to our discussions by reminding us of the real-world implications of our research and the importance of patient-centered care. The consensus report from the KDIGO Conference on the Role of Complement in Kidney Disease has been released. Importantly, the group concluded that Biomarkers for Diagnosing and Monitoring Complement-Mediated Disease States are ideally to be performed at bedside since proper sample collection is critical to avoid ex vivo complement activation.   We are pleased to see this report. Time to talk about liver disease! The EASL the home of Hepatology Congress 2024 starts today in Milan, Italy. I’m looking forward to reading about the latest scientific research and innovations coming out of the conference over the coming days.   An estimated 2 million lives are lost to liver disease each year and the number keeps on rising.
