Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust's Therapies team needs your help! 🆘 As you can see, this small outdoor space in our Therapy Outpatients department could do with a little TLC... 💚 It’s a neglected space that has potential to be so much more. As its situated in the middle of the department, surrounded by windows, patients, visitors, and staff can see out to the courtyard – and we’re sure you’ll agree, it’s not particularly inspiring. It’s not open to the public but staff currently access the space to store hospital equipment through those two doors on the right. With your support, we can turn a lifeless and unappealing area into a special sanctuary for staff to take timeout, reflect, socialise, and simply enjoy the benefits of getting some fresh air during their busy day. So, how can you help? 🏵️ Donate potted plants, climbers, seating, arches, or decorative garden items 💚 Make a donation to our charity and we’ll allocate it to this project ✨ Volunteer your time to de-weed and tidy 💡Suggest other ways you or your company could improve the courtyard – we're always open to ideas! This is a project that can only happen through charitable donations and support from our community. Therapies Operations Manager Brayden Williams says, “Being able to look out and enjoy a brighter view from our department’s windows would really benefit patients and staff from a wellbeing perspective. Something as simple as taking a cup of tea outside on a break can be a real mood-booster. We’re incredibly grateful for any community support to make this small yet important courtyard transformation happen.” If you or your organisation would like to support this project, please send us a message or email fundraising@mkuh.nhs.uk 🙂 You can see similar examples of hospital environment renovations and uplifts on our website 👉 https://lnkd.in/emEyyrds (...and while we're here, we'd like to congratulate Brayden on being awarded 'Colleague of the Year' at this year's #TeamMKUH Staff Awards 🏆🤩!) #NHSCharities #Community #Renovation #MiltonKeynes #Charity #Volunteer #Donation #StaffWellbeing #Transformation

Starting off this Monday morning and week with some exciting news! At least it's exciting to me...🥳🤩 Jason Hughes and I are running ANOTHER marathon for charity🏃♀️🏃♂️ You know the drill, new race = new organization to raise funds and awareness for. This time around, we're running and raising funds for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. They are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment👩🏾⚕️ Additionally, no child is denied treatment from St. Jude based on race, religion, or a family's ability to pay. For these reasons, we’ve chosen to fundraise for St. Jude. This cause is very important to both of us; we have friends and family whose lives were drastically improved thanks to the ongoing work of St. Jude❤️🩹 We know that with the research and treatments they provide, that is likely true for you, as well. We're encouraged by the support we've already received, and we still need help reaching our total fundraising goal of $10,500 (which is being collected through two separate pages, the first of which is linked below). This is the minimum amount required to secure two spots in the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon, where we will each run 26.2 miles to raise awareness and funds🎖 Please note that 100% of the donated funds are directly supporting St. Jude; these are not used to cover travel expenses, etc. We know that with the help of our family and friends, we can reach this goal. Please help us by making a tax-deductible donation using the link below and sharing this throughout your network. Note: if you or someone you know has had a life-changing experience thanks to St. Jude, please reach out to me if you're willing to share your story. https://lnkd.in/gryDEZET #charityrunners #marathonrunners #runforgood #giveback

2023! What a year for The Lewis Foundation. Financially was the hardest year ever for our charity, with the cost of everything rising. We did not want to have to reduce our service or stop, which meant thinking outside the box and that led to 2 fantastic opportunities for us this year, which was our coffee shop at the Elgar Centre, Upton, Northampton and Outlet Store Grosvenor Shopping Northampton. This has been a brilliant way for us to not only raise awareness but also support us in becoming financially sustainable at a time where donations, fundraising and funding have declined. We are grateful in a cost of living crisis, that we have been able to continue to provide our gift packs and support to cancer patients in hospital and the community for another year across the 17 hospitals that we support. We have worked really hard to maintain the average cost of a gift pack to £3.60. We can't thank you all enough for the kindness and support you have all shown our charity. To our wonderful team, hospitals and members of the public - who have raised awareness, donated, raised funds, donated and gifted your time. We could not do this without you. The Lewis Foundation is all about the community coming together to make a difference to the lives of others, to support someone even if they are a stranger. We are proud for another year we have been able to do just what. Wishing you all a Happy New Year and wonderful 2024! #CommunityImpact #Gratitude #CharityJourney #YearInReview #CreativeSolutions #FinancialResilience #SupportingCancerPatients #TeamWork #CommunityUnity #MakingADifference #NewYearWishes #NonprofitSuccess #SocialGood #CommunitySupport #InspiringChange #PhilanthropyWins #Hopeful2024 #GiftOfGiving #PositiveImpact #CommunityEngagement #VolunteerSpirit #FundraisingSuccess

As you may know, Warman O’Brien's Charity Partner for last year was Jigsaw - The National Centre for Youth Mental Health. In support of their remarkable efforts, we ran in the mud, cycled, and even swam in the wild Atlantic Ocean! At the end of each quarter, our team made donations, contributed by each member of our passionate team. Throughout the year, we raised and donated £𝟲,𝟱𝟳𝟭 and are INCREDIBLY thankful to everyone involved. Supporting charities is not just empty words for us; it’s a way to contribute to the broader Life Sciences community (which is close to our hearts), to those amazing people who are committed to finding the cure, to the industry's progress, and supporting those who need help in any way. As we step into the new year, we are delighted to announce our new Charity Partner for 2024 – Alzheimer's Research UK. Among the leading causes of death, dementia is the fastest-rising health condition in the UK and the biggest long-term health challenge we face. Investment in research is key to making the breakthroughs we need to deliver life-changing treatments. The Alzheimer’s Research UK team works closely with the government, parliamentarians, and people affected by dementia to address key issues on the political agenda. Our team is planning some fun fundraising activities throughout the year, which we are going to announce soon. For now, please join us in supporting this initiative. Charity Shout Out! recently had the pleasure of meeting Jess... Just taking a few moments to reflex and remember how lucky we are. thanks Jess Mackenzie Please share, like, comment and generally support f this resonates or if you can, support doesn't always equate to money... I am Jess from Alzheimer’s Society, and my role title is the Community Fundraiser for Cheshire. In a nutshell this means that I am a charity best friend for anyone fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society, be it a corporate, a group or association or an individual. Now… as many of you may know Alzheimer’s Society is a massive charity, however my goal is to help others understand that we are more local than you would think, and this starts by making people aware of myself and that I live in Cheshire working on the ground to support my supporters in anyway that I can. Overview on Alzheimer’s Society: At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives, and we do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and providing hope for the future. We understand all aspects of dementia, and as a society we are made up of people with dementia, carers, trusted experts, campaigners, researchers, and clinicians. We are the UK's largest collective force of people with unparalleled knowledge and over 40 years of experience addressing the biggest challenges facing people living with dementia. #alzheimers #charity #shoutout #followthefox #countyourblessings

The CASK Coalition finally has its very own website. Visit https://lnkd.in/ebVZSGvm to find your closest member charity. ❓What on earth is the CASK Coalition, you may be asking. It's a group of CASK non-profits from around the globe who wish to work together to help find treatments for our children. All current members have a proven track record of working collaboratively, supporting and helping each other. ❓Is this an exclusive club? Definitely not! The #CASKCoalition is an umbrella group for any CASK organisation that shares the same values and mission. All we ask is that the relationship is unidirectional and that there is a true belief that helping each other will accelerate a path to a treatment. ❓ What is the dream? The dream is a world where every country has its own organisation assisting its rare disease community, raising awareness and facilitating treatment. A world where there is no competition between charities but only support and strength. ❓What are your qualifications? CASK Research UK is an active member of the new umbrella group UK Rare Epilepsies Together and has worked successfully with members of the CASK Coalition for over a year. We truly believe there is strength in numbers and power in unity. #collaborative #nonprofit #cask #KickingCASK #rarediseasecommunity #committed #strongertogether #ukret

In just over a week’s time, our service users and staff at the Early Interventions Service will be climbing Scafell Pike to raise money for our charity, Caring Minds. 🌄 On Friday 14 June, a team of six service users and four staff members will be climbing up the iconic Scafell Pike in the Lake District. Their aim is to raise £500 that can be used towards funding equipment or activities for mental health patients that are over and above what the NHS can afford. Our Early Interventions Service (EIS) works to support people aged 14-65 who are experiencing their first episode of psychosis. Psychosis is when people lose some contact with reality. This might involve seeing or hearing things that other people cannot see or hear (hallucinations) and believing things that are not actually true (delusions). It may also involve confused (disordered) thinking and speaking. Towering at 3,209 feet high, the summit of Scafell Pike will be a challenge, but it is one that the group are looking forward to conquering. As well as raising funds, this trip will combine the benefits of physical exercise, a sense of community and more than anything, pride in themselves for achieving a goal set. 🙌 Coordinator of the event, Luke Rose, Lead Health Instructor, said: “Some of our service users had set what they thought were ‘unrealistic’ goals when they accessed support from the health instructors within EIS, however, with strong determination and mindset, these goals are now very much achievable! Empowering service users to realise their potential really is the foundation of everything we do, whether it be through gym-based exercise, mountain biking, tennis or any other form of physical activity. “The positive impact that some of our smaller hikes and photography walks have had on service users’ physical and mental health really does speak for itself.” If you would like to contribute towards this fundraising expedition, no matter how big or small, your donation will be very much appreciated for all involved.
