On July 9, there was an exciting visit to Dornier Power and Heat in Berlin! A Chinese delegation led by the National Energy Administration and the Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute CO, LTD was on site. Organized by GIZ, the experts had an intensive exchange about the flexibility of coal-fired power plants. Udo Gade and Ronald Rost provided insights into how Moorburg and Jänschwalde were made flexible. The guests were particularly interested in the measures for rapid load regulation and the reduction of minimum output. In China, 50% of the large coal-fired units have already been made flexible - some even to 20% minimum load! The information that the power plant units in Moorburg and Jänschwalde have now been shut down was met with astonishment. Finally, Frank Schulze presented the innovative P2M solution for online monitoring and predictive maintenance. These technologies help to reduce costs and CO2 emissions and are a real game changer for plant operators! #dorniergroup #bettertogether #international #China

🤩📺 Groupe TF1 (French TV) is talking about one of our key projects in Europe! In the Allier department, France, we are spearheading the EMILI project, which aims to open one of Europe's largest lithium extraction mines on French soil. We are currently entering a new phase where the floor will be opened to all stakeholders in a public debate which will continue through to July. The aim of this debate is to allow us to explain the EMILI project, interact with stakeholders and take on comments and concerns from the public. We encourage everyone to participate and share their thoughts, comments and questions. EMILI will play an essential role in the development of the European market for EV battery production. Our goal: - produce 34,000 tons of lithium hydroxide annually; - equip approximately 700,000 electric vehicles each year for at least 25 years in the most sustainable way possible thanks to our production of lithium;  - minimize effects on the environment and water quality. When it comes to the electrification of maritime shipping, there's a need to discuss the elephant in the room: cost. As Maritime Battery Forum Board Member Eileen Tausch put it in a recent interview, "So much of the commercial industry boils down to financials. Specifically in the United States, we need mechanisms to move the needle further towards the cost effectiveness of electric vessels (specifically those utilizing maritime batteries). We still see high capital costs that are difficult to fund upfront, even with the significant reductions in operational costs that are achievable." By leveraging globally-abundant and readily-accessible battery materials, Alsym Energy aims to shift the situation towards lower-carbon shipping. Alexander De Croo, Prime Minister of Belgium, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Energy Transition Cooperation between three Belgian and three Houston-based partners to boost transatlantic cooperation on the green transition. The Center for Houston's Future, WaterstofNet , Port Houston, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Exmar and the Blue Sky Maritime Coalition agreed to explore a win-win partnership around an import-export coalition for renewable and low-carbon molecules, a green shipping corridor and the exchange of best practices, knowledge and research.   The changing regulatory landscape and ambitious climate targets on both sides of the Atlantic provide the background for ambitious cooperation. The Greater Houston Area is home to some of the biggest energy producers in the world, and the increase in production of renewable and low carbon energy offers perspectives for future export. Belgium is a strategic energy hub in the heart of Europe, including for import and transit of renewable and low carbon molecules, with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges as a crucial gateway with extensive storage capacity and connectivity to European markets and huge off-take.
