At last, my MSc dissertation has been published as part of my collaboration with the University of Westminster - many thanks to Tatjana (Tanja) Bolic and Professor Andrew Cook for driving this forward. The impact of Space Launch on air traffic flow, and now expanded to other High Altitude Operations, is a hot topic of discussion at ICAO and other State aviation authorities. We were delighted to welcome the European Commission’s Rosalinde van der Vlies, Directorate-General for EU Science, Research and Innovation, to the NLR Hangar in Rotterdam last week, where NLR’s two research aircraft are based. Such flying experimental test beds are vital for testing, validating and certifying innovations necessary for successful transitions into a more sustainable and resilient society. Our advanced facilities are a key enabler for innovation and competitiveness. For very large facilities, only few countries have the critical mass needed to build and sustain them, a message well understood by NLR and our German colleagues at German Aerospace Center (DLR) already 50 years ago with the start of the DNW - German-Dutch Wind Tunnels. This highly successful collaboration is a blueprint for European action and therefore we strongly support the European Commission's pilot initiative, which contributes to a new and comprehensive EU strategy on technology infrastructure. 🌐

🚀 New Article Published! On April 17 and 18, 2024, the third interregional meeting of the Moving Towards Aerospace (MAE) project under the Interreg Europe program was held in Forlì and Bologna. The event brought together European partners to discuss the current and future prospects of the aerospace sector, with a particular focus on interregional cooperation and local stakeholder engagement. Transferable and implementable good practices were presented, and the next steps for exchange activities and the transition towards aerospace were planned. In 2023, World Science Day for Peace and Development focuses on "Building Trust in Science." Trust in science is vital for developing evidence-based solutions to global challenges. The team at the Aviation Services Research Centre (ASRC) is continually striving to deliver impactful innovations and technologies to the region and society as a whole in aviation, transportation, marine, and energy. The role of science in shaping our collective future can only be fulfilled when there is trust in science. It is trust in science that fuels the development and application of evidence-based solutions to our world’s multifaceted challenges. Trust in science is a complex issue. It affects the way in which scientists operate and the way science is perceived by society. The Aviation Services Research Centre (ASRC) had the pleasure to host a visit from representatives of the Beijing Astronautics Experiment Institute of Technology (BAEIT) as part of the PolyU's strategic partnership in the development of China's aerospace technology. Where the aim is to explore opportunities in advanced propellant design, aerospace diagnostic technologies, advanced multifunctional materials, and the establishment of a joint research center. This long-term partnership is expected to contribute significantly to the advancement of China's aerospace industry. BAEIT is a leading aerospace science and technology research unit owned by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). As the earliest established, largest, most comprehensive, and technologically advanced aerospace propulsion testing base in China, BAEIT is also the country's premier research center for aerospace liquid propellants.
