Are you interested in the current state of Indigenous engagement in global and Canadian clean energy projects? The David Suzuki Foundation has distilled some very important information on this subject in a recent report, including: ◾ Just 41% of Canadian clean energy projects are controlled by Indigenous communities. ◾ Indigenous land management, stewardship, and conservation is responsible for 80% of global biodiversity. ◾ All Canadian renewable energy potential lies on unceded Indigenous territories or treaty land. It is time to take Indigenous involvement in clean energy and sustainability seriously. Give it a read to learn about these stats and more. #FNPA #FirstNations #Indigenous #Inuit #CleanTech

✋❌ Myth busted: Solar and wind need too much land! Switching to #cleanenergy doesn't have to require more land than the current fossil fuel systems. Renewable energy projects need to weave environmental protection into every step of their planning. Through research, smart planning, innovation and biodiversity assessments, we can harmoniously share space with nature, farms, cities and more.💛 Happy #WorldEnvironmentDay! #LetsChangeEnergy #LandRestoration #GenerationRestoration

Celebrating World #ocean day and #environment day, we are launching a new generation #biodiversity measurement framework 🥳🌱🌊 Unlike greenhouse gases, biodiversity is incredibly #complex and costly to measure and no one internationally agreed and comparable measure exists Building on existing science, this framework will enable our renewable energy projects to #measure, take #action and #document delivery of our 2030 #netpositive ambition while also making reporting requirements such as CSRD and TNFD operational and practical to meet High quality and practical solutions require #concerted and #collaborative efforts, we welcome your #feedback on the framework 👉 https://lnkd.in/dX6X8Pzv Kudos to the Ørsted team that has worked for over 2 years on the framework Emma Hospes Cat Valentin Hemmingsen Ditte Bilde Rennie Meyers Lauren Uppink Calderwood Samir Whitaker Ida Krabek ❤️🩵 Thank you The Biodiversity Consultancy Ltd for your support! #biodiversity #renewableenergy #sustainability #impactmeasurement
We can’t take action for the climate without taking action for nature. And our actions won’t measure up unless we measure them. That’s why, this World Ocean Day, we’re launching a new way to track progress on our biodiversity ambitions. First, we led the industry by announcing a net-positive biodiversity target for all new renewable energy projects commissioned from 2030 onwards. And now, we’re setting a standard for transparency and accountability with our measurement framework. 👉Check it out at orsted.com/measuringnature. #WorldOceanDay #Biodiversity #ParisAgreement #GlobalBiodiversityFramework #RenewableEnergy

Measuring biodiversity losses and gains are no easy task. Especially, because no agreed metrics are available today. That´s why we at Ørsted have launched a measurement framework with a 8-step transparent process that gives us the tools to measure both losses and gains for achieving a net-positive biodiversity outcome. Great being part of the engine room together with Anthony Dvarskas, Chih-An Lee, Ditte Bilde, Greg DeCelles, Samir Whitaker, Sally Holroyd, Tina Tamm Bendixen, alums Daniel Willard, Elisabeth Baden, Tereza Havelund Andersen and many more. Feedback on the framework is very welcome in the link below

'You can't manage what you can't measure' is bad advice for the climate-nature crisis. We must protect and restore nature while figuring out how to measure it. Ørsted have been taking action to protect and restore biodiversity while working on our measurement approach, and results from these projects have been vital for the development of our 'just-released' biodiversity framework. It has been a privilege working with Tina Tamm Bendixen, Madeline Hodge, Tommy Kristoffersen, Anthony Dvarskas, Daniel Willard, Greg DeCelles, Chih-An Lee, Natalia Lopez, Ditte Bilde, Tereza Havelund Andersen, Elisabeth Baden, Cat Valentin Hemmingsen, Sally Holroyd, Rennie Meyers, Cecile Gerondeau, Amy Finlayson, Virginia Dundas, Emma Hospes, and the good folks at The Biodiversity Consultancy Ltd to develop and deliver Ørsted's biodiversity measurement framework. Developing a #global measurement framework for biodiversity has been challenging - there is no single metric, biodiversity is location-specific, baseline data is lacking, and there are myriad of legal and reporting frameworks to consider. To measure biodiversity we need coordination, #innovation, and cross-sector knowledge-sharing like never before - we have to work together, and we need your help! This is why we've publicly released our biodiversity measurement framework - the result of two years of incredibly hard work behind the scenes. Please take a look and give us your thoughts, feedback, comments - https://lnkd.in/eFC744Kt

The Accelerating Retreat of Swiss Glaciers 🏔️🌡️ The retreat of our glaciers is a stark reminder of the urgent need for action. It's more than a loss of beauty; it affects water supply, river flows, and energy. We need to explore renewable energy and water-saving strategies. What innovations in these areas are you excited about? Let’s brainstorm and lead the way in environmental stewardship. #GlacierRetreat #RenewableEnergy #WaterConservation 👉 "Comment with your innovative ideas on renewable energy and water conservation!" We aim to bring all voices into the discussion about clean hydrogen and seek community engagement in regional hydrogen hubs. The EFI Foundation’s ongoing research aims to facilitate ongoing dialogue and understanding of community views and the concerns of environmental justice organizations. #cleanhydrogen #H2Hubs
As the clean energy transition continues to take shape, new energy development must account for marginalized communities. Our recent study focused on hydrogen communities (https://lnkd.in/eAa_mhRP) reports survey results on the views of environmental justice (EJ) organizations and individual EJ community members. #cleanenergytransition #environmentaljustice #hydrogen

Did you know that electricity grid corridors can be transformed into ‘green corridors’, fostering up to five times more biodiversity than neighbouring forests? By supporting green grid corridors, we can harmonise energy needs with nature. Ensuring renewable energy access through an efficient and expanding grid system benefits both people and the environment. Green grids enhance ecosystem resiliency and preserve natural beauty for future generations. #GridsEmpower. Click the link below to learn how: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eimmtvKA Stewart Maginnis
