A brand new week brings new opportunities. Here's an inspirational quote chosen by our Arsenal F.C supporting Head of Customer Service, Stephen Coppins: "Nobody has enough talent to live on talent alone. Even when you have talent, a life without work goes nowhere." - Arsene Wenger ⚽ #motivationalmonday #teamFixfast #quote

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard phrases like “you’re so lucky to do what you do” and you’re very privileged to have a job like yours”. No, no, no, no, no. If you’ve ever said this to someone working in the Culture and Heritage Sector, STOP IT! It’s hugely insulting. We’ve worked very hard, made sacrifices, faced challenges (especially in the last 15 years) and above all, we are good at what we do. In short, if we are doing what we do, in a very competitive sector, it’s because we are good at it. The “you’re lucky” and you’re privileged” view has systematically served to devalue the jobs we perform and their value to society. So next time you talk to someone in the culture and heritage sector feel free to congraturle them on doing an important job or even tell them how much you admire or envy what they do, but don’t tell them they’re lucky or privileged. If you want to learn more about how valuable culture and heritage is to both the economy and society then check out this report by Historic England: https://lnkd.in/eAPTnnyH And https://lnkd.in/eJuJGjYU. https://lnkd.in/eWmmVEMZ

Thank you Wily LLC and Eric Gorman for having me today! Here are some ideas: 🎯When you are trying to pinpoint the challenge or key intervention point of a problem you are addressing to make things better. 👥When you need to facilitate a diverse set of roles and perspectives to build a solution or move work forward. 💡When you have an initial idea of what you want to do but need to build more support. You can hire them to do the work or sign up to learn how to do the work! The next opportunity to advance your skill set with them is coming up and as someone who learned so many useful tools in this training, you should check it out: https://lnkd.in/dBNntp9a

All of these Psychologists have certainly made important contributions. But using citation metrics to rank "Top" scientists ignores the many other ways that scientists contribute to or harm scientific progress. As we've recently seen in various fraud and questionnable research practice investigations in the behavioral sciences, some scientists may look astounding on a limited number of dimensions such as citations or publications, but pollute the scientific literature with unreliable research or as toxic mentors and colleagues. By focusing on individual achievements, such metrics incentivize scientists to do whatever is best for their careers, regardless of what is best for science. We need to move towards a system when scientists are rewarded or punished for their entire range of contributions to science, not just their individual achievements. This is a pretty cool accolade to have and a great group of colleagues to be in.

We are kicking off our "Meet the Team Tuesdays" with our President of Canadian Operations, Michael Rockert Each week we will be asking our team some questions to highlight their personality and business-acumen. What is your favorite sports team? "This is an easy one…and anyone who knows me, can answer this question for me…lol…The Toronto Maple Leafs…a life-long fan still hoping for another Stanley Cup Victory and Parade!!". What’s your favorite part about your job? "My favorite part of the job is acquiring new customers and ensuring we are enabling the success of our current customers by providing them with the proper IT products, services and solutions that keep them secure and productive. On top of that, I enjoy the consultative interactions when a customer reaches out to us to get our advice on how to properly address a business-related problem for which our solutions and know-how can solve for them." Clients come in a variety of niche areas! Not all of them are nominated for Emmy’s and Golden Globe’s though. Exceptionally grateful for Ross Kimball and our work together! I feel like I have learned and implemented more from him than he probably has from me. This relationship is the epitome of a win-win!
