International Day for Biological Diversity - Digital Industries takes care of our tiniest “employees” with huge value creation Did you know that the worldwide economic value of the pollination service provided by insect pollinators – bees mainly – has been estimated to be in the order of hundreds of billions of Euro each year? Our tinies employees with huge value creation celebrate their birthday today – on the International Day for Biological Diversity. We seize this opportunity to highlight our ongoing contribution to preserving and enhancing biological diversity (also referred to as biodiversity) globally. As a global leader in environmental protection, we at DI go beyond legal requirements related to protecting and fostering biodiversity. For this, we assess all our manufacturing sites’ biodiversity impacts and evaluate further potential actions. The spectrum of such actions ranges from universally applicable measures such as setting up bee hotels to more tailored ones such as greening building roof tops. You have an idea of how your site can contribute to enhancing biodiversity? Let us know…

❗ Understanding biodiversity is crucial for boards, management, and companies❗ because their business activities can significantly impact ecosystems. "We are experiencing a biodiversity crisis. A million species are on track to be lost forever – many within decades."* Biodiversity refers to the variety of life on Earth, including different species, ecosystems, and genetic diversity within species. It encompasses all living organisms and their interactions within ecosystems. Knowledge of biodiversity helps them make informed decisions that 🌱 minimizes harm 🌱 ensures sustainability 🌱 maintains ecosystem services that businesses rely on (such as clean water, air, and raw materials) Are you aware of your company is effecting biodiversity? *Read more in World Benchmarking Alliance nature publication (where the image is also from): https://lnkd.in/du4ycAmk

🌍🌱✨Did you know that International Biodiversity Day was last week? But does that really matter? Shouldn't every day be Biodiversity Day? 📚👐🌼 Let's dive into the history of Biodiversity Day: It started in 1993, following the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, which led to the creation of the Convention on Biological Diversity. This day aims to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. 🌿🔥🛑So what does Biodiversity Day mean to you? 🌸🐝🎶 Is it about enjoying the diverse life forms in a forest, listening to wildlife at dawn, or watching pollinators around blooming plants? 🥕🍅Or is it about recognizing the importance of protecting the web of life that sustains us all? These moments remind us to cherish and protect the variety of species and ecosystems around us. 💚🌟 📢🌎🚀 For us NBS factory, Biodiversity Day is a call to action. It challenges us to face the realities of biodiversity loss and consider how we can make a difference, whether by supporting conservation, reducing our ecological footprint, or advocating for change. 🌟♻️🌲As Stefanie Hauer, Partner at NatureRe Capital AG, highlighted during ChangeNOW this year in her session on Reducing the Biodiversity Footprint of Business: "It's also from a pure business perspective in the long term, as most of our brands require natural materials. Investing in and regenerating nature makes good business sense." 🏢🌱🤔 Curious about how your company impacts biodiversity? Søuld has been involved as one of the examples to show and inspire how Danish companies can work with biodiversity. Hear co-founder Kirsten Lynge tell the very short version of the story below (in Danish). Collecting eelgrass for Søuld takes place in a delicate relationship with wild eelgrass meadows that naturally produce and release eelgrass leaves during the summer and fall. When the dead, yet green eelgrass is removed from the coast instead of decomposing, nutrients are removed from the marine environment, which helps prevent eutrophication and algae blooms that threaten the eelgrass meadows. As Søuld grow, we are dedicated to keep developing and assessing our eelgrass collection methods in conversation with relevant actors – Tænketanken Hav, Kystdirektoratet (The Coastal Directorate), all the small creatures that live or take a break on the coast and more. Global biodiversity is threatened and declining faster than at any other time in history. That is why Industriens Fond, WWF Verdensnaturfonden / WWF Denmark and DI - Dansk Industri have created an online platform where 14 companies that have ventured into working with biodiversity share their experiences with, among other things, value chains, communication, nature projects, reporting, and much more. Find more inspiration in the link in the comments.

I’ve just returned from a thought-provoking week in Sydney for the IUCN Oceania ‘Achieving 30% by 2030 Protected Areas’ workshop. What were some of my key takeaways? 🔵 Target 3 of the Biodiversity Plan (Global Biodiversity Framework) is to protect 30% of the world's lands and oceans by 2030. This target is the MINIMUM percentage of land and sea we need to protect to support life on Earth. It is backed by rigorous science. 🔵The role of OECM’s (Other Effective Conservation Measures) are key to protecting biodiversity while enabling a mechanism for people to gather food, medicines, and other resources sustainably and equitably. It recognises the key role indigenous & local communities already play in protected area management. We still have more work to understand how these are implemented and recognised in Oceania. 🔵People. People. People. Connecting across countries to discuss our opportunities and challenges, while learning from each other was powerful. Partnership and collaboration are key to dealing with the issues facing our generation and future generations. This goes to the core of why I do what I do. 🔵Story-telling. A common language for all. I personally feel like this sometimes gets lost in our day-to-day. The power of a good story, one of action and hope, can unite. The workshop provided stories of action happening on the ground, we went on a journey around the Pacific Islands, and it connected us to a vision. 🔵What’s next – Blue Cradle Foundation, with our partners, are hosting an Oceania Marine OECM workshop in 2025. If you would like to hear more, please reach out.

As we mark the International Day of Biological Diversity on May 22nd, it's a poignant reminder of the critical role biodiversity plays in preserving our planet's delicate balance. This year's theme, 'Be Part of the Plan,' underscores the urgency for all stakeholders to unite in safeguarding biodiversity by championing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, commonly known as the Biodiversity Plan. Understanding the profound risks posed by biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation, C.P. Group is resolutely committed to achieving a Net Positive Impact by 2030. Our commitment aligns seamlessly with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and UN Sustainable Development Goals 14 and 15. We have established ambitious targets aimed at conserving, restoring, and sustainably managing forest ecosystems across our operations and supply chain. Embracing the principles outlined in the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD) framework, we publish a comprehensive biodiversity report. This report not only deepens our understanding of our interconnectedness with nature but also informs our strategic decision-making, planning processes, and enterprise risk management. Recognizing that collaboration is paramount, C.P. Group actively seeks partnerships with stakeholders at both the national and international levels to expedite biodiversity conservation and restoration efforts. We firmly believe that everyone has a vital role to play in safeguarding and revitalizing biodiversity. Therefore, we stand prepared to champion a whole – of – society approach towards realizing the objectives outlined in the Biodiversity Plan, with the ultimate goal of positioning Thailand as a nature positive by 2030. #cpgroup
