At #COP26 in Glasgow (2021), the world saw renewed efforts to tackle climate change. 🌍 Nations came together to finalize the Glasgow Climate Pact, with goals to limit global warming to 1.5°C, phase down coal, and reduce inefficient fossil fuel subsidies. Importantly, the Paris Rulebook was completed, ensuring more transparent climate reporting. However, the gap between pledges and real actions, particularly in terms of climate finance and adaptation, remained a major issue. We couldn't agree more with the urgency of addressing climate change. It's encouraging to see that sustainability and innovation are part of Sweden's DNA and that Swedish companies are making the green transition a business strategy. It's crucial that companies worldwide follow this example and prioritize sustainability in their operations. COP29 is an excellent opportunity to showcase pioneering green solutions and collaborate towards reaching the Paris Agreement targets. Despite the historic conference's focus on sustainability and justice, its host country's actions starkly contrast these principles. Azerbaijan's significant contributions to global warming and persistent human rights violations make it an unsuitable host for the world's largest climate change conference. Australia, with its truly unique environment, extraordinary wildlife and the longest living civilistation known to mankind, could show the world what can be achieved in a relatively short time. Used to be called "the last outpost of climate denialism", only globally leading with highest GHG emissions per capita, this island nation is stepping up to the challenge. I can't wait to see what transformation will be achieved by #COP31.

DAY 7️⃣4️⃣/1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ International Treaties on Climate Change (2) 📍The Paris Agreement seeks to reduce global temperature rise to well below 2 degrees (1.5 degrees celsius) celsius from the level it was when global industrialization began. 📍Adopted at COP21, 196 party states joined the Agreement. 📍It is the most binding treaty on Climate Change. Pollution -COP Summits :- The sincerity of nations participating in COP (Conference of the Parties) summits has often been questioned, especially when these events receive funding or support from the fossil fuel. It’s a clear case of a conflict of interest, as the very companies contributing significantly to carbon emissions gain influence over climate policies. This can/has undermine/d the summit’s goals, leading to watered-down commitments and slow progress in transitioning to renewable energy. While some nations genuinely push for strong climate action, the influence of fossil fuel interests raises doubts about the collective willingness to prioritize the planet over profits.
