Celebrating the Phenomenal Women in Agriculture: Pioneers, Partners and Powerhouses In honour of International Women's Day, we want to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable contributions of women in agriculture. Today, we shine the spotlight on the unsung heroes who till the soil, nurture our crops and drive the agricultural sector forward. Their resilience, innovation and dedication shape not only our fields but also our communities and economies. A Brief History Women have long been the silent pillars of agriculture, their roles deeply rooted in history. Across generations, they have been stewards of the land, passing down agricultural wisdom and knowledge from mother to daughter. Despite their significant contributions, women in agriculture have often worked invisibly, facing gender-specific challenges and barriers. Facts and Figures Did you know that women constitute nearly half of the global agricultural workforce? Their presence and influence in farming operations worldwide are undeniable. However, despite their prevalence, women often encounter disparities in access to resources, land ownership and financial support. Despite these obstacles, women continue to have substantial impacts on agricultural productivity and rural economies. Empowering women in agriculture is not merely about achieving gender equality, it's about unlocking immense potential and fostering sustainable development. Studies reveal that if women farmers had equal access to resources as men, global agricultural output could witness a significant boost, thereby lifting millions out of hunger and poverty. Beyond the fields, women in agriculture play pivotal roles in shaping global economics and food security. Their innovative approaches, resilience in the face of adversity and commitment to sustainable practices drive progress and prosperity in communities worldwide. As we celebrate International Women's Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to empowering and uplifting the women in agriculture. Together, let us strive to create a future where women have equal opportunities, access to resources and recognition for their invaluable contributions to the agricultural sector and beyond. Join us in honouring the indomitable spirit of women in agriculture and championing their journey towards a brighter, more inclusive tomorrow. #SheFeedsTheWorld #WomenInAg #EmpowerHerHarvest #TheLocalFarmer #LocalFarmerZA #InternationalWomensDay #CelebratingWomen

Empowering Women as Farmers: A Key to Sustainable Agriculture Women play a crucial role in agriculture, yet their contributions often go unrecognized. In many parts of the world, women are the backbone of farming communities, responsible for planting, harvesting, and managing crops. Despite this, they frequently face significant barriers, including limited access to land, credit, and resources, which hinders their productivity and economic potential. Empowering women as farmers is not just a matter of equity; it is essential for sustainable development. Studies have shown that when women have the same access to resources as men, farm yields increase, and food security improves. Moreover, women tend to invest more in their families' nutrition, health, and education, leading to stronger, more resilient communities. To support women in agriculture, it is crucial to address the structural inequalities that limit their opportunities. This includes providing better access to land ownership, financial services, education, and agricultural technology. Governments, NGOs, and the private sector must work together to create policies and programs that empower women farmers. By recognizing and supporting women as key players in agriculture, we can enhance productivity, promote gender equality, and build a more sustainable future for all. #SustainableFarming #GrowthHacker #WomenFarmersEmpowerment #AgribusinessGrowth

🌱 When we recognize the gender disparities in agriculture, we can collectively advocate for equal voices in the sector. 🎉 In celebration of Women’s Month, we're proud to highlight one of our promising initiatives on women empowerment. At the launch of the Women’s Cohort, our Cohort co-lead and Morination Agricultural Product Inc.'s President, Sharon Jean Gulmatico, called for collective action to harness women’s leadership in agri-stakeholder engagement. 🌽 Grow Asia and PPSA launched the Women’s Cohort to advance an enabling environment for women in agriculture to thrive. Through multistakeholder collaboration on diverse projects focusing on skills development, health, and women’s well-being, the Cohort will champion women’s empowerment. This initiative is supported by our ASEAN Green Recovery through Equity and Empowerment (AGREE) Project. The AGREE Project's Gender and Climate Study highlighted the resilience and resourcefulness of women farmers and their urgent need for support to thrive. Through the participation of women leaders like Ms. Sharon, we are hopeful that we can make take further steps in championing equality and empowerment in agriculture! 📌 Learn more about our Women's Economic Empowerment Program: https://lnkd.in/gFtXYbTd 📌 Check out our Gender and Climate Study: https://lnkd.in/gFe-pgPi #WomensCohort | #WomenEmpowerment | #AGREE
