We have relaunched Root in recycled plastic! ♻️ The Root series has always had a sustainable profile. Now, we are relaunching the series with an innovative and sustainable material made for the next generation. Smile Plastics' vision is to rediscover the beauty and functionality of materials we traditionally classify as "waste." The new tabletops for Root are, in other words, made from recycled materials, and the raw materials can stem from yogurt pots, household appliances, and general plastic packaging. The circular process makes the tabletop 100% recyclable, without additives, binders, or resins 💡 Discover the Root series in two new designs: "Alba" and "Heron in Chestnut" and learn more about the new launch here: https://lnkd.in/daUGb8af Root is designed by: Runa Klock #recycled #sustainable #design #furniture

♻️ Did you know that our legs and sink protector units are made from recycled plastic and aluminum respectively? We chose to use, when possible, recycled raw materials to reduce our impact on the environment and give our customers the opportunity to develop sustainable products themselves, in line with the circular economy principles. Furthermore, the waste produced from plastic extrusion and moulding is recovered and reprocessed internally. #VolpatoGreenStrategy #volpatoindustrie #furniture #furnitureindustry #madeinitaly #designitaly #sustainability #ecodesign #circulareconomy

Stainless steel straws seem like a great sustainable solution. But it's more complicated than that. • The narrow diameter makes them tricky to clean • They transfer heat, so aren't suitable for children or people with additional needs • They can cause damage if accidentally knocked against teeth • They come with a significant carbon footprint from being made overseas. Enter silicone straws. I didn't invent them, but I've developed this range, specific specification and refined the manufacturing process to make them more user-friendly: • Flexible - bends 180 degrees without kinking • Safe for all ages • Inclusive design for people with additional needs • Chew-resistant • Easy to clean and made in the UK 🇬🇧 It's a sustainable option without compromise on user experience and our big retailers have been snapping them up for their homeware and barware departments. -------------------------------------- Hate soggy straws? We made something better. Sustainable, reusable, beautiful silicone straws. "Only by producing a single-material piece of furniture can we ensure true circularity,” notes Polimair. The French brand has launched its first 100% mono-material chair kit. The Beluga Chair is made entirely from recycled plastic, primarily sourced from discarded fishing nets. Its single-material design simplifies the recycling process, making it easier to sort and break down materials at the end of the chair’s first-use life. This approach results in less waste and fewer materials ending up in landfills. Assembled without screws, glues or wood, the Beluga Chair has an easily-reversible assembly system and lifetime guarantee. These features prioritize durability and repair over replacement, aligning with principles of the circular economy. POLIMAIR spent two years developing the Beluga chair kit, using approximately 7.3 kilos of plastic waste for each chair. In this way, they are helping to clean the ocean while proposing innovative solutions to our plastic crisis. #mebltransformingfurniture #sustainablefurniture #sustainabledesign #circulardesign

❗ The shape of your packaging matters for recycling ❗ Take a look at the video below. Notice the round objects rolling on the conveyor belt? ⚽ 🏀 🏐 Yes, they're not common household packaging and they're extremely round, but this is something we often observe during our sorting tests or visits to one of our sorting centers. Design for recycling is much more than just making your packaging a mono-material packaging. So many other factors such as the decoration, shape of the packaging, and rigidity etc. matter a lot too. As you can see in the video below, round objects roll on the conveyor belt. If the packaging is very rigid and hard to compress, and shaped very roundly, even though it's mono-material, it might not be recycled because it can't be sorted due to the rolling. ♻ If you want to know how your packaging behaves in a sorting facility or if you have any questions about the design of your packaging, send us a message. P.S. A quick reminder: pans and other non-packaging items should not be disposed of with household packaging waste 💆♀️ 💆♂️ #recycling #designforrecycling #householdpackaging

On this #GlobalRecyclingDay, P&G is reflecting on the progress we have made in creating a more circular future. ♻️ 🌍 Whether in the shower, at the sink, in the kitchen or in the laundry room, we are looking at ways to deliver a better packaging experience for people while using less materials. #ItsOurHome Swipe to see examples of how we’ve done it with our brands! 👀 🧴 We reduced the plastic by 45% in our @headandshoulders shampoo bottle, a lightweight design that makes it easy to get the last drop. 🚿 @herbalessences has upgraded its lineup of shampoo and conditioner to bottles with 25% less plastic than previous bottles. 🍽️ @dawndishwash Powerwash uses 25% post-consumer recycled plastic and allows people to reuse the durable spray pump for future uses. 🪒 We’ve swapped plastic for recyclable cardboard in our refillable @gillette and @venus razor packaging, making it easier to get the product out. 🧺 Our Ariel detergent pods come in a recyclable, cardboard box featuring an ergonomic opening for easy access as you start a load. And while we have made progress, we still have work to do. Learn more about our strategy in our link in bio. #PGemployee

What is the most environmentally friendly material combination for cosmetic packaging? ♻️The most eco-friendly combination of materials for cosmetic packaging is undoubtedly glass. Glass is sourced easily, has simple manufacturing and processing, low cost, strong plasticity, stable chemical and physical properties, and is highly recyclable. Another environmentally friendly option is bamboo, a natural material that is widely recognized. 🧪We all know that cosmetic packaging includes containers and accessories. Glass is a preferred choice for containers due to its recyclability and eco-friendly properties. However, accessories such as lids, discs, and inner linings often involve the use of plastic. Othilapak introduces an eco-friendly set featuring the 'Bottle Deity' made of frosted glass and a lid made of bamboo. This design maximizes environmental friendliness, minimizing plastic waste pollution. Helping clients to choose the right packaging solution for their product, brand positioning and audience.
A demonstration below of how recyclable waste gets organised for swift processing. Where a can, bottle or tub would roll on a fast moving conveyor, a pouch will not. When considering recyclable packaging, think pouches.
