LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS (LDA) has placed an order for two 27M Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs), expanding their fleet from five to seven high-specification vessels. These units, based on the StratCat27 design, will be constructed by Strategic Marine and are equipped with the latest technological advancements for offshore operations. Norwegian shipping company Rem Offshore is making waves with an order placed with compatriot Myklebust Verft AS. They've set sail towards sustainability by commissioning the construction of an energy subsea construction vessel (ESCV), touted as the first of its kind to perform heavy construction work in both offshore wind and subsea with net zero emissions. 🌟 According to Rem, this vessel represents a significant milestone in their journey towards a greener future. Lars Conradi Andersen, CEO of Rem Offshore, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This is a big milestone for Rem Offshore. We are ordering our first net zero emission vessel and taking a big step into the future." 🌍 The ESCV will incorporate cutting-edge technology to reduce energy consumption, with solutions that nearly halve energy usage compared to similar vessels in today's market. Moreover, it will meet future requirements for zero emissions from end to end. 🌱 Key features of the vessel include dual-fuel methanol engines paired with battery packs, and all offshore lifting equipment, including a powerful 250 T crane, will be electric and capable of regenerating power to the batteries. With a spacious working deck spanning over 1,400 m2, the vessel will also be equipped for the installation of an offshore gangway, catering to offshore wind operations. ⚓ Skipsteknisk has played a crucial role in designing this flexible platform, working closely with Rem and Myklebust. This achievement represents a pioneering step in the development of LNG infrastructure in the region, where previously LNG operations were conducted solely via truck and permitted at only one berth. 𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧 emphasized that this development is part of a broader trend of expanding LNG operations across German ports to support the transition to clean fuels in shipping. The enhanced 𝐋𝐍𝐆 𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 capabilities in 𝐂𝐮𝐱𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧, a port managed by 𝐍𝐢𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐬𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐆𝐦𝐛𝐇 & 𝐂𝐨. 𝐊𝐆, pave the way for future maritime decarbonization through 𝐥𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐞 (𝐋𝐁𝐌) and renewable e-methane.
