FTI Technology Managing Director Elizabeth Noble reflects on 10 years with #TeamFTI and the evolution of e-discovery, including why it's an exciting time to enter the field. What initially drew you to FTI Consulting, and what has kept you here? Elizabeth: I was seeking a change from my work on the litigation side and wasn’t entirely sure what my next step would be. During the interview process, I was impressed by the company’s genuine commitment to supporting its employees. What has kept me at FTI Consulting is the incredible team I work with. I’m surrounded by talented, dedicated and driven colleagues, which makes every day enjoyable and rewarding. FTI Consulting offers a collaborative, team-oriented environment, and it’s been a fantastic place to grow and contribute. Why is now an exciting time to be in e-discovery? Elizabeth: The volume of data being generated continues to grow exponentially. With the rise of cloud storage, social media activity and emerging data sources, the types of data relevant to litigation are expanding rapidly. E-discovery professionals are constantly challenged to stay ahead of this evolving landscape. Additionally, advancements in technology, such as the integration of AI, are transforming the field. The rapid pace of technological change, coupled with the increasing complexity of legal frameworks and emerging data types, makes this an exciting time to be in e-discovery. What advice do you have for young women looking to get into your field? Elizabeth: E-discovery offers women an exciting and rewarding career path. Begin by mastering the fundamentals of e-discovery – understanding how to identify, collect, process, review and produce electronically stored information. Stay informed about developments in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data privacy laws and cloud computing, as these are shaping the future of the industry. Equally important is embracing the broad diversity of roles within e-discovery. Projects often involve managing complex workflows and coordinating teams, so gaining experience in case management and project leadership will set you apart. What is your favorite way to unwind after a long day? Elizabeth: I love spending time with my boys, who are 9 and 12. Whether we’re playing card games, board games or video games, it’s always a fun and lively time. We also enjoy watching a great show or movie together. After a long day, family time is my favorite way to unwind. Once they’re tucked in bed, I like to relax with a good psychological thriller or dive into a gripping crime drama.

Nice one 🙂 1) 2024 was the year we proved that legal innovation isn't just about technology—it's about empowering brilliant minds to reimagine what's possible. At KfW Legal, we didn't just adapt to change; we became the architects of transformation. This year embodied our core belief: in the Jahrzehnt der Entscheidung (Decade of Decision), legal teams must be both guardians of compliance and catalysts for progress. We secured a landmark €24 billion finance contract focused on carbon neutrality, demonstrating how strategic legal work can drive systemic change. Our journey wasn't just about big contracts—it was about building a future-ready legal ecosystem. Three moments capture our spirit: 1. All-Hands Offsite: Diving deep into generative AI "Ein Tag gespickt mit den Themen unserer Zukunft: Generativer künstlicher Intelligenz" https://lnkd.in/ePz-bDym When 120 colleagues gathered to explore AI's potential, we weren't just discussing technology—we were reimagining legal practice. Our BReady process isn't about incremental change; it's about radical reinvention. 2. Legal Operations Transformation "Nur mit guten Legal Operations können sich die Syndizi auf das Wesentliche - die anspruchsvollen und reizvollen juristischen Aufgaben konzentrieren" https://lnkd.in/edXzemrf We elevated our Legal Operations team, proving that strategic infrastructure enables lawyers to focus on what truly matters. By integrating data analysis and digital strategy, we're not just supporting legal work—we're elevating it. 3. External Recognition: AZUR Top Employer "Ein Traumarbeitgeber im Bereich Banking & Finance" https://lnkd.in/eeB5FSzY External validation matters, but for us, it's never about the award—it's about continuously earning our team's trust and pushing boundaries. Highlights? Being shortlisted for Legal 500's Inhouse Lawyer of the Year and winning WirtschaftsWoche's 'Best of Legal' award. But more importantly, re-elected to the BUJ presidium, allowing us to shape the future of corporate legal practice. Looking to 2025: AI integration remains our strategic priority, but not as a technological checkbox. We'll continue developing a human-centric approach where technology amplifies, not replaces, legal expertise. Danke an das gesamte KfW Legal Team für ein weiteres Jahr voller Innovation und Exzellenz! 🚀 #LegalTech #FutureOfLaw #LegalInnovation 2)

@ Kuro Group we take data serious, we are data management and storage experts. This panel on tackling ROT (redundant, obsolete, and trivial data) was epic! My two key takeaways: 1️⃣ ROT or Not? We learned that ROT is real…and everywhere! Apparently, even fantasy football data can sneak its way into multiple spots. (Put down the Excel sheet and let it go) 2️⃣ Legal Risks of ROT: ROT isn’t just about wasted space; it’s a removing legal liability. When your data starts looking like a Hoarders episode, it’s time to get serious about retention policies, staying compliant with them, and removing risk. Alexander Lewis
🚀 Wrapping up an insightful session The Masters Conference Legal on Data Governance and Retention, proudly sponsored iCONECT at the Master’s Conference. This panel touched on some of the biggest challenges organizations face today with ROT (redundant, obsolete, and trivial data) and the critical importance of data minimization. Highlights from the Panel: Understanding ROT: It’s surprising how much redundant or trivial data accumulates over time—posing risks for privacy, data breaches, and storage costs. One speaker humorously noted finding copies of someone’s fantasy football data in 12 different places! Legal Risks: ROT isn’t just a nuisance; it can be a legal liability. Whether in-house or external, data and records retention must be a top priority to avoid compliance risks, regulatory fines, or reputational damage. Retention Policies & Proactive Management: Organizations often focus on data management only when issues arise. However, proactive data mapping, retention audits, and indexing save substantial costs and reduce litigation risk. Developing a defensible deletion strategy is crucial. Breaking Down Silos: Legal, IT, and records management teams must collaborate to create cohesive, proactive data policies. This interconnected approach helps organizations safeguard data, reduce costs, and manage risk more effectively. Embracing AI & Automation: Emerging tools, including generative AI, offer powerful capabilities for data classification and ROT identification, allowing organizations to handle data more strategically. This conversation underscored that data governance isn’t just for IT or legal—it's everyone’s responsibility. Whether it’s understanding data retention policies, advocating for data mapping, or simply not being a data hoarder, each of us plays a role in managing and securing data. Thank you to the panelists, Adam Gajadharsingh, Monette Smith, CEDS, and Jonathan Younie, for the engaging discussion. And a big thanks to iCONECT for sponsoring this impactful session. Kevin thanks for filling in for Alexander, you did and epic job. #DataGovernance #DataRetention #ROT #InformationManagement #LegalTech

#LexFusionInsight: An EY CEO survey found that, unsurprisingly, 100% of CEOs planned to make significant investments in GenAI projects. More tellingly, the same survey found that 66% of those CEOs were planning on funding these GenAI projects by raiding existing budgets: https://lnkd.in/gNWPy_U3. That is, while law department workloads are increasing in unplanned ways—because of all the advisory aspects of GenAI projects—available resources are also likely to decrease. Law departments are, in turn, cascading these shifting resource-to-output expectations down to law firms. For more progress, promise, pain, and peril read LexFusion’s latest snapshot synthesizing our present perspective on #GenAI in Legal: https://lnkd.in/gxrBXyyB With - Joe B. | D.
