FTI Technology Managing Director Elizabeth Noble reflects on 10 years with #TeamFTI and the evolution of e-discovery, including why it's an exciting time to enter the field. What initially drew you to FTI Consulting, and what has kept you here? Elizabeth: I was seeking a change from my work on the litigation side and wasn’t entirely sure what my next step would be. During the interview process, I was impressed by the company’s genuine commitment to supporting its employees. What has kept me at FTI Consulting is the incredible team I work with. I’m surrounded by talented, dedicated and driven colleagues, which makes every day enjoyable and rewarding. FTI Consulting offers a collaborative, team-oriented environment, and it’s been a fantastic place to grow and contribute. Why is now an exciting time to be in e-discovery?   Elizabeth: The volume of data being generated continues to grow exponentially. With the rise of cloud storage, social media activity and emerging data sources, the types of data relevant to litigation are expanding rapidly. E-discovery professionals are constantly challenged to stay ahead of this evolving landscape. Additionally, advancements in technology, such as the integration of AI, are transforming the field. The rapid pace of technological change, coupled with the increasing complexity of legal frameworks and emerging data types, makes this an exciting time to be in e-discovery. What advice do you have for young women looking to get into your field? Elizabeth: E-discovery offers women an exciting and rewarding career path. Begin by mastering the fundamentals of e-discovery – understanding how to identify, collect, process, review and produce electronically stored information. Stay informed about developments in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data privacy laws and cloud computing, as these are shaping the future of the industry. Equally important is embracing the broad diversity of roles within e-discovery. Projects often involve managing complex workflows and coordinating teams, so gaining experience in case management and project leadership will set you apart. What is your favorite way to unwind after a long day? Elizabeth: I love spending time with my boys, who are 9 and 12. Whether we’re playing card games, board games or video games, it’s always a fun and lively time. We also enjoy watching a great show or movie together. After a long day, family time is my favorite way to unwind. Once they’re tucked in bed, I like to relax with a good psychological thriller or dive into a gripping crime drama.
