Diving in the Galapagos Islands offers an exhilarating challenge for experienced divers. 🌊 With moderate to strong currents, especially at Darwin and Wolf, preparation is key. We advise having over 50 logged dives and a recent dive within 6 months. 💪 Dive deep and hold onto rocks to marvel at hammerheads and whale sharks with ease, and we'll educate everyone on distinguishing between rocks and coral to protect our underwater ecosystems. 🐠 If the currents pick up? Embrace a drift dive for an unforgettable journey with the ocean's flow. 🦈🐋 #GalapagosDiving #AdventureDiving #UnderwaterCurrents #EcoConsciousDiving

Sidemount diving is a great setup where you mount tanks on your sides instead of your back. Here are three big perks 👇 1️⃣ Better Mobility With tanks on your sides, you can move around more easily, especially in tight spots like caves or wrecks. It gives you the freedom to explore without getting stuck. 2️⃣ Increased Safety You usually carry two tanks, each with its own regulator. If one system fails, you have a backup, making your dive a lot safer. This is key for deep or tricky dives. 3️⃣ Great Buoyancy Control Tanks on your sides help you stay balanced and streamlined. This means better buoyancy control, less drag, and more efficient movement, letting you dive longer and with less effort. These benefits make sidemount diving a solid choice for both recreational and technical divers looking to up their game underwater. 🙌 #mérida #merida #scubadiving #cenote #buceo #sidemount

Calling Operation Deep Blue Legacy with Pascal van Erp, Founder of Ghost Diving & Deputy Director at Healthy Seas 📞 🌊 What is so special about Operation Deep Blue Legacy? "This operation is special in a way because everything is more extreme than usual. (...) We are cut off from every single telephone connection. Another aspect is the diving part. The diving part is pretty deep (...), the wrecks down there are super interesting because no one ever dove there, many of them are still not identified and we are trying to do that now with our project. (...) One organization is helping the other. (...) We're collaborating with SDSS: The Society for Documentation of Submerged Sites , Healthy Seas , and Ghost Diving to protect the ocean and preserve historical shipwrecks." - Pascal van Erp Don’t miss your chance to be part of #history in the making. Stay tuned! 🌊 We are grateful to DWS Group for making Operation Deep Blue Legacy possible. ______ #ShipWrecks #OceanConservation #Oceans #Diving #TecDiving #CCR #OffShore #Shipwreck #Buceo #Tauchen #GhostDiving #HealthySeas

Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime diving in the Galapagos? With its unique underwater landscapes and strong currents, it's crucial to master certain dive skills to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. One essential skill is the Negative Entry. 🔹 Negative Entries: In areas with strong currents, a swift descent is key to keeping the dive group together. This technique involves entering the water with no air in your buoyancy control device (BCD) to enable an immediate and controlled descent. Divers can quickly sink and regroup underwater, minimizing separation and maximizing dive time exploring the breathtaking marine life the Galapagos has to offer. Mastering negative entries is essential for diving in conditions where surface currents can affect your ability to stay with your group or reach a specific depth quickly. Never done a negative entry before? Don't worry, they're easy to learn. On our first check dive, you'll get to practice! Stay tuned for more tips and make sure your dive skills are up to the challenge of the Galapagos currents. Dive safe, dive smart! #DivingGalapagos #DiveSkills #NegativeEntry #ScubaDiving #UnderwaterAdventure

𝗜𝗻𝗗𝗘𝗣𝗧𝗛’𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝘀 💥 We have some amazing new stories for you this month that we’re kicking off with a big dollop of diving culture. The @thedivepoet is in the house! This issue of InDEPTH offers a trio of feature stories focused on gasses and physiology. Rachel Lance introduces us to the hyperbaric docs who figured out rebreather diving physiology—breath oxygen at what depth!?%#!— in order to win WWII! Be ready for a dive geek page-turner! Next, InDEPTH reporter Ashley Stewart takes us for a dive into CO2 monitoring in the search for the so-called ‘Holy Grail,’ that is, End-tidal CO2 monitoring. Instructor Benjamin G Hadfield V ★ is ready to provide you with an altitude adjustment—everything you need to know or consider if you're gonna meet up with Karen van de Over for a high dive at Boesmansgat or maybe Lake Titicaca. Oxygen does not get you high. But Hadfield will! History, anyone? A plethora of fatalities plagued early tech divers. In response, the community rallied to create Blueprint for Survival 2.0, which represents a consensus standard of “best practices” originally compiled in 1993 by Capt. Billy Deans and yours truly, with the goal of improving diving safety. We think you’ll find it intriguing to reexamine what were considered safe practices. We were not too far off! On the exploration front, Italian explorer Andrea Murdock Alpini reports on the crystal wreck, SS Rigel in the Baltic Sea, and explorer and photographer Stefan Panis takes us for a plunge into Belgium’s Pignon mine. 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁! The new issue goes live tomorrow, May 2nd. Subscribe to our free newsletter to get all these stories and more directly in your inbox.
