In 2023, The Centre for Sustainable Design ® (CfSD) launched a web-based self-help tool for Createch founders, CEOs and CTOs to help them benchmark their sustainability maturity and devise actions plans at no cost to the user. The tool provides: • Actionable guidance written by experts on Createch and Sustainability • Difficult to locate educational information all in one place • Links to valuable and relevant external content such as funding and networking events • A way to measure progress in improving sustainability maturity The tool currently has over 270 users in over 20 countries. Starting 17th April, The Centre for Sustainable Design ® (CfSD) is running a series of 30minute collaborative learning and exchange to integrate sustainability deeply into the #Createch sector. The events are focused on founders, CEOs and CTOs in Createch companies, particularly start-ups and scale-ups. However, all in the Creative Industries are welcome to attend and use the tool to help them move through their sustainability journey. This is the question that cultural entrepreneur Suhair Khan aimed to address when she launched 'Open-ended Design,' a digital platform where the realms of creative technology and innovation converge. Open-ended Design serves as a virtual gathering place for practitioners who operate at the intersections of their respective disciplines, often bridging the creative and technological worlds. Khan passionately believes that artists and technologists share common ground because both groups are engaged in envisioning the future and constructing new realities, both for themselves and society at large. Her vision was to create a space where they could find a shared language and inspiration. In her own words, Khan explains, 'Our goal is to shine a spotlight on and foster connections among innovators in culture and technology from all corners of the globe.' Charting the Future of Co:Create in the Next Era of the Internet 🌐 🚨Spoiler alert: We're all in on tattoos!🚨 Co:Create launched with a white paper, painting a vision of the future where communities are rewarded for their contributions. In 2023, we brought this vision to life with an API platform that powered diverse applications, from Bleacher Report's Watch-to-Earn 🏀 program to a Harry Styles concert 🎶. Our journey provided a crucial insight 💡 Tools are necessary, but fundamentally rethinking business models is paramount. Consider web 1.0 (the “read” era): It started as an online replication of existing models (e.g. static newspapers). But soon, innovators began leveraging the internet's unique capabilities, giving rise to dynamic content, interactive user experiences & eventually leading to the birth of web 2.0 (the “read, write” era) Now, as we edge into web 3.0 (“read, write, own”), we're at a similar crossroads. This era brings unprecedented forms of ownership & interoperability. But we're still in the early stages & real life examples are few. So, we decided to take our API infrastructure & use it as the base to build our own front-end applications, things that were only possible because of web3. That is what led us to launch Co:Create Studios & incubate Co:Create Ink. So what is Co:Create Ink? Ink takes our learnings about building community-driven brands, combined with the unique power of blockchains & tokens, to build an ownership-driven experience for artists & collectors. It’s a curated marketplace of tattoo art, providing ownership that extends beyond time & skin. Our aim is to open new income streams for artists while offering collectors a new dimension of self-expression, storytelling & fun. The Co:Create Ink launch at Art Basel last month was a defining moment. We can see the immediate impact we are having on artists & collectors. We’ve therefore made the bold decision to focus entirely on this venture. We are so excited to build something only possible due to the technological advancements of blockchains and tokens. Ink is beginning. The Co:Create brand stands for something bigger: a commitment to transform business models through community engagement & ownership. As Ink grows, we're laying foundations for future ventures, connected by a unifying protocol, tying back to the vision outlined in our initial white paper. We see a future where we can leverage our learnings & tech across various creative fields, expanding Co:Create's ecosystem of web3 platforms over time.
