[#GalileoInnovates] 💡 1,2,3 Action 🎬 : A CLCF Ecole de Cinema x Cours Florent special Directing and Interpreting course in Paris! From September 2024! 🗣 marc-henri dufresne, teaching director at Cours Florent, points out, "We know that students will not be confined to just one discipline in their lives." 🌟 Born out of the collaboration between these two prestigious institutions, this new course reflects a single desire: to offer those passionate about these two fields the tools they need for optimum professional fulfilment. This initiative meets a growing demand from students who want to be trained as both actors and directors. 🏫 This three-year course will take place on the Paris campuses of the two schools. Students will have the opportunity to practise their acting skills at the Cours Florent, while learning about directing techniques at the CLCF. This integrated approach aims to give students a thorough and practical understanding of both disciplines. 📚 The course is also enriched by lectures, master classes and meetings with recognised professionals in both the acting and directing sectors, and more widely in the world of culture. These interactions with experts will provide students with a valuable perspective on a valuable perspective on the industry and will help them establish professional networks. 🙏 Congratulations to Cours Florent and CLCF for this great initiative! Well done to marc-henri dufresne and Benattou Benichou for making this collaboration possible. Their vision and commitment have made it possible to create an innovative programme full of opportunities for future film and theatre professionals. We look forward to following the progress of this programme! #Cinema #Theatre #Collaboration #WeAreGalileo

Our new "Spotlight On: Larp" article, by Dr Ian Sturrock and Dr Jakko Stenros, is now live! If you've ever wondered about if you should get involved with larp, or if this is the first time you've heard the term, then this is the article for you. https://lnkd.in/eDjJTMpk "Larps (live action role-play events) have some important differences to interactive theatre, though there’s certainly crossover in the skills expected of an event organiser and the modes of interaction available for a participant. You might consider larps as at the far end of a continuum of interactivity: film to theatre to immersive theatre to interactive theatre to larp. Larps are high on participation and co-creation, and low on authorial control over each aspect of the production." #larp #larping #immersivecommunity #immersivemakers #makingimmersive #immersivecreators #audienceexperience #articles

I'm just arriving at the end of my #PhD. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that I will stop teaching Stanislavski fundamentals as I don't think they are accurate, scientific or even useful in creating "good acting". Diderot, Michael Chekhov and Yoshi Oida all have better ideas. Also, Stanislavski fundamentals will never allow inclusiveness, not really, not fully. Have I got alternatives? Yes! I have been trialling teaching acting with almost zero emotional coherence but with full investment in the moment and with little requirement for high volume of capital (Bourdieu). I argue that acting is not like music or dance where the musculature requires a long time to be trained (voice and movement will still require time and space) but the 'acting' technique requires little to no time to execute. Does my way of working create other problems? Probably. For example, the director becomes the ultimate voice and sits at the top of the dramatic art hierarchy but at least we can be open and transparent about their position. :-) How is your December going?? #actor #actortraining #highereducation #dramaschool #performingarts #theatre #acting #phdlife #phdstudent #phdchat

🎥 Cinema and Society: An Intimate Look at Our Times 🌍 Because we live in a country of movie aficionados, it is important to examine how society is shaped and reflected in film. Cinema is a potent fusion of several artistic mediums, including acting, music, and writing. But does it reflect our aspirations, difficulties, and hopes? Legendary writer Javed Akhtar thoroughly explores this relationship, providing profound insights that are both enduring and relevant. #CinemaAndSociety #ArtAndCulture #FilmInfluence

Teamwork 👍🏻 Lessons from the Theatre | Part 3️⃣ 🎭 The rehearsal and preparation time frame for a theatre production is typically 4-6 weeks before a paying audience arrives to see the magic 💰 That means everyone involved in theatre both onstage and back stage needs to get through the typical team formation process ‘forming, storming, normimg and performing’ stage pretty quickly 💨 So how do they do it? What can we learn from the theatre? 🧐 💎 Purpose - as discussed in Part 2️⃣ this is lazer sharp and clear to ALL involved - it makes sense cognitively and emotionally 💎 Egos left at door - theatre can attract some major seasoned celebrities as well as people who are undertaking their first acting role or their first theatre job. Everyone functions as an ensemble recognising they are all equally important to the production’s success 💎 Discipline - a strange word to use in a business context, but without discipline theatre productions would fall apart - but more on that in Part 4️⃣ coming soon 😎 Keep shining ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Embracing the Foundation of Digital Media At its core, theatre revolves around storytelling. From the rise and fall of characters to the intricacies of plot development, the stage demands a mastery of narrative that resonates across all forms of visual storytelling, whether it's film, television, or digital media.🎭 Actors delve into the psyche of their characters, breathing authenticity into every word and gesture. This focus on character development is invaluable for any audiovisual artist seeking to create compelling, multi-dimensional characters that captivate audiences. Theatre is the epitome of collaborative artistry, requiring seamless coordination between actors, directors, designers, and technicians to bring a production to life. On World Theatre Day, we celevrate collaborative spirit that instills a deep appreciation for teamwork and collective creativity, essential qualities for success in any audiovisual project. #digitalmedia #aiudiovisual #media #theatre

What is the “fourth wall”? (Hint: it originated in the #theatre) An #imaginary invisible wall the #audience looks through to watch a play. It is located across the front of the #stage, separating the audience from the #performers. The forth wall resembles the transparent #picture #plane #surface of an ad/photo/painting, or #cinematic #screen. #Viewers gaze into the artificially created world of a theatrical #scene. It has been designed to engage people’s #minds as they sit passively watching the show. Like any #visual #narrative, it is a #representation we can lose our “self” in, by suspending our disbelief. “#Rear #Window” 04 This series of #sculptures, built during my master’s degree in the UK, was exhibited at the Canary Wharf gallery in London. It was inspired by #Hitchcock’s film. #Creativity is Activity. #Focus on the #process. #Rapt #Pact #Daily #Create #Habit #Indistractable

[StageFright Edutainment Industrial Theatre] Unlike traditional behavioral-change management campaigns that convey abstract concepts and can become monotonous, our Educational/Industrial Theatre programs are easier to follow and messages easier to learn and remember. Characters in our live performance shows have the power to be role models, inspire audiences to engage in new thinking about “what is possible”, and change the perception of what is “normal” and socially acceptable behavior in any workplace. No-one likes to be lectured to or be told what to do. The reason to change must be engaging and exciting, which is why StageFright’s main focus is Edutainment, Education through Entertainment.
