Together with Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Borough Councils we’re working on a new plan to deliver growth, manage development and protect our unique historic and natural environment. We need your help to answer important questions: How many new homes and jobs should we plan for and where should they go? What can we do to address climate change? How can we protect and improve nature? What is special about the area that should be protected? What infrastructure, shops and services do we need? Interesting! The Great Saunter event, a 32-mile grand loop walk around the edges Manhattan. Increasingly, with the completion of pathways encircling the island, this kind of trek can become more broadly enabled. (In her piece, "Great Saunter Tips from Decades of Walking Around Manhattan" Sarah Milstein mentions that more segments of established pathways around the edges are falling into place.) Terrific to see the proliferation of these kinds of events, and, in the process, communities building this kind of walking green infrastructure! https://lnkd.in/gpE-C9F5

It's great to see Local Authorities getting their communities involved in producing a strategy and plan that focuses on infrastructure, environment, new jobs and new homes. Initiatives like these will go a long way in building a connection between Councils and the people they serve. OneConsulting have also helped in designing and implementing Operating Models which align with customer-centric strategies and plans. #thinkdifferent #council #strategy

It's mind-boggling that the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation wants to evict the Big Reuse from its Queens site. The Big Reuse processes tons of park and food waste yearly, producing nutrient-rich soil amendment that benefits surrounding parks, community gardens, and street trees. We all understand the challenges that city agencies face (lack of funding, space), but the Parks department's argument -- that it needs the space for parking -- is not justifiable. There is ample space for both its parking needs AND the Big Reuse's compost operation. The city seems intent on killing community composting—contradicting the commitments Adams Administration has promised towards expanding green infrastructure, achieving sustainability goals, improving public space, and more. See the links in Clare Miflin's original post, below, to sign the letter of support (for organizations) and petition (for individuals). My journalist and editor colleagues -- If you're free tomorrow morning, please attend the press conference! If you need more info or would like to set up interviews with the leaders of this resistance, DM me. WHAT: Press conference + Tour of Big Reuse Composting Site WHEN: Friday, April 19, 10:00-11:30 am (tour of site 10 am, street care event following) WHERE: Queensbridge Composting Site Queens plaza South, between 9th street and Vernon Blvd Long Island City, NY 11101 WHO: Justin Green, executive director and founder of the Big Reuse, and Councilmembers Julie Won, Shekar Krishnan, Shaun Abreu, Tiffany Cabán Julie Won. Local Plan, a great way to get involved and shape your towns future development. A document such as this can help planners and developers understand what aspirations towns and villages have for their growth. We have seen the new governments direction and indications on development, we need to be more prescriptive in what we want.
⚠️⚠️ Don’t miss out on your chance to shape the future of where you live ⚠️⚠️ We want to know what’s important to you about new homes, roads and transport, local facilities, green spaces (and more!) as we begin drafting a new Local Plan for how Central Bedfordshire grows in the years ahead. Make sure your voice is heard BY MONDAY 23 SEPTEMBER You can either complete a survey, put your thoughts on a map – and there’s even a ‘short on time’ option for those of you who are…well, short on time!! https://lnkd.in/e9yHZGZS
