🎮 Fortnite’s Next Era 🌐 Epic Games’s huge Big Bang launch, released on December 2nd, revealed three completely new experiences in Fortnite: LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival. LEGO Fortnite was released on December 7th to massive success, hitting 2.4M peak concurrent users. That’s not far off from Fortnite Battle Royale’s peak of 3.1M CCU that was set when Epic released the OG map in Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 5, in early November. Player interest has also exploded. Data provided by Gamesight shows that Twitch channels that cover racing, rhythm, and survival games spiked up massively when the trailer was released and the experiences were launched. It’s also done wonders for player engagement, with overall Fortnite daily average CCUs seeing a huge spike with the release of the new experiences and a growing trendline. It's exciting to see world class IP like Lego continuing to experiment with new forms of digital play - and alternative business models. Fortnite is, of course, one of the more interesting options for partnership available to them. During my years at Disney I always tried to extend the reach of, and diversify the opportunities to interact with, our franchises and characters. This can be best achieved by leveraging the power of other partners' platforms such as Fortnite, and there are many more great IP companies doing the same. If the IP is large enough and the fan base broad enough, a healthy 3rd party platform presence does not prevent IP owners from also building there own game/app experiences. If done correctly these strategies can coexist and even benefit each other. #lego #fortnite

What exactly is "rocket ship" growth? Well, probably looks something like Supercell's Squad Busters. Still weeks out from launch and, so far, Squad Busters is outperforming that little game Monopoly Go from Scopely. Does this mean that Squad Busters will be a bigger game than Monopoly Go? To be determined, but what it has done so far.. grab the attention (as show here by mindGAME Data) of the gaming community this far out from release is a great sign. Now to borrow a theme from a recent conversation I had with a mobile gaming company it feels like we are entering the "AAA Brand Campaign" era of mobile gaming. UA is no longer a simple arbitrage because of ATT.. and because of this UA appears to shifting more towards brand campaigns.. similar to what one would see on the AAA console / PC gaming side. Fortnite Unveils Marvel's "Absolute Doom" Season! Epic Games has kicked off the latest season of Fortnite, called "Absolute Doom." This new season, Chapter 5 Season 4, features a Marvel theme, with a focus on Doctor Doom. Players can obtain various heroes and villains through the battle pass, including War Machine, Gwenpool, and Doctor Doom himself. The island in the game now has Doom-themed locations such as Doomstadt and Castle Doom. Here, players can find Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets to use as weapons.
