Our upcoming Women's Networking Event on Wed 26 June is the perfect opportunity to expand your professional network and connect with like-minded women. If you tend to avoid networking, why not give it a try? Thresholds' facilitators ensure these sessions are fun and relaxed, helping you make new contacts while having a great time. New LinkedIn research shows that men tend to have larger professional networks with frequent communication and senior-level connections. But women shine in network diversity — especially through "weak ties," connections to people outside their immediate circle. These weak ties provide unique information and can boost career opportunities, giving women access to a broader range of insights. Join the Women in Product UK online networking event and meet women in product from all over the world! Grab your ticket here: https://lnkd.in/geZ4s4x7 5 tips on how to get the most out of networking events: 1. Remember that networking events are usually awkward for everyone, so there is no reason to be shy. 2. To reduce anxiety, come prepared: define a clear goal of what you want to achieve by expanding your network. Is it a new role or finding partners for your next big gig? 3. Also have a few questions in mind to kick start and facilitate the conversation. Something like "What's your superpower?" or "What work excites you the most these days?" can break the ice. Asking "What brought you to this event?" can help to transition to the real deal and start exploring how you can be helpful to each other. 4. Not everyone asks follow-up questions like "what about you?" in a conversation. This doesn't necessarily mean they're not interested, but rather may be due to their own anxiety. If you find yourself talking to this type of person, try to proactively share something about yourself, otherwise your conversation will turn into you interviewing another person and you'll never find out how you can help each other. 5. Don’t forget to close the conversation by asking how you can connect outside of the event. You'll be surprised how many people forget to do this. Good luck!
