This week adds a new habit. It had been long since I had taken a professional development course. I am quite happy that I will be joining this year's Cohort XV of the "Climate Governance, Diplomacy and Negotiations Leadership Program". It's going to be an intensive few weeks of learning from esteemed faculty at the African Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES). Hoping the learning will give me more juice to continue preaching my message that young people in Africa MUST get into policymaking! It's quite the responsibility we have, to shape the future which we are going to be living. Africa contributes to less than 5% to the climate crisis through emissions but it is the one that suffers the most. Climate governance is just one part of the solution, but it affects all sectors, and such science diplomacy forms the backbone of policymaking to enhance adaptation and negotiations at the tables of Climate Finance, Climate Justice et. al. As always, it's time to get excited! 🚀 #Climate #ClimateChange #ClimateJustice #ClimateDiplomacy #Science

Teaching Fellow I Strathmore Business School 🌱 Passionate about Sustainability | Environmental Advocate | Business Development | Strategic Financial Professional
Attended an insightful meeting today on the vital role Business Schools can play in addressing Climate Change through education. One striking highlight was the projected $400 billion loss anticipated for Africa, emphasizing that our path to recovery or adaptation will start from a significantly disadvantaged position compared to the rest of the world. This raises a critical question: what more can business schools do to help mitigate this in some way? In addition to integrating climate change topics into their curricula, it is essential that the knowledge imparted in the classroom has a lasting impact, extending well beyond alumni status. As an aspiring academic, these are the pressing issues I aim to address as I step into the education sector. How can educational institutions foster a culture of lifelong learning that persists beyond the classroom? This is a challenge we must tackle to ensure that our efforts in combating climate change are enduring and effective too. Thank you to the speakers Dr. Olga Pilifosova, Mariam Allam and Dr. Barend Erasmus for the informative session and the moderator Professor Sherif Kamel
