APOD makes a difference to the well-being of military families in Australia.🎖️👨👩👧🏠 Over the past four years, we have now delivered over $55.5M in savings back to military families, and this is a collaborative saving, where your own money has been stretched further. Paul Broadbridge, APOD CEO, stated, “At APOD, we understand the unique challenges faced by military families. Our mission is to ease their financial burdens by providing meaningful discounts that stretch budgets further. The $55.5 million in savings we’ve delivered over the past four years is a testament to our commitment to improving the wellbeing of our defence community. Together, with the support of our partners, we can continue to make a real difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our country.” 🇦🇺🪖 #FinancialWellbeing is essential for military families in Australia, and discounts are a direct contributor to this wellbeing. They provide a buffer against the uncertainties of military life, reduce stress, and help mitigate risks associated with veteran suicide, domestic violence, and homelessness. We are proud to see that APOD has contributed conservatively $55.5 million back to veteran families, and we look forward to seeing this increase exponentially as we work with our community and retail business partners. 😊 Please visit our blog to learn more: https://lnkd.in/g7xzF9Xb #apodcommunity #veteranbenefits #defencediscounts 📸: Defence Media

Children's sense of belonging and agency is supported when they see their lives reflected in storybooks. Being part of a military, Veteran, and First Responder families can be tough if their parents have a moral injury. It impacts affect the whole family, and children are often silent sufferers. Research-based storybooks using family narratives give voice to their experiences and support children's understandings. Our resources are free because many organisations donate their time, and cash funding from The Association of Graduates in Early Childhood Studies. #moralinjury #freeresources #support #mentalhealthsupport #wellbeing #childrenswellbeing #childrensvoice #childrensbooks #childrensliterature #marginalizedcommunities #researchtranslation #knowledgesharing #researchimpact Manna Institute University of New England (AU) CIPSRT-ICRTSP CIMVHR - Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research Military and Emergency Services Health Australia CQUniversity #veteransupport #firstresponders

The DCD program is all about the Win-Win-Win: - Each dog is a rescue/rehomed dog. - Each dog is trained by an inmate handler - Each dog is given to a veteran needing support for PTSD or related conditions, at no cost. DCD dogs are trained by low security inmates which enables consistent and dedicated training 24/7 for a minimum of 10 months. The dogs will mirror this dedication to their Veteran recipient. None of the inmates who have participated in the program have re-offended, and many have gained transferable skills to help them with reintegrating to society: “This program has changed my life; it’s taught me to be kind and patient, as well as the importance of being a role model for someone in your duty of care... there’s a real sense of trust and honour in being able to train and nurture a Labrador for a life-changing purpose." 🐾🐕💜 Visit our website for more information: www.dcdogs.com.au Improving the lives of Veterans. U.S. Army Veteran | Former Planning & Zoning Commissioner | Passionate about Small Business and Community Development
Are you a military veteran living in or around Lewiston, Idaho? You are not alone, and there are so many resources available for help. Here is a list of some resources available to veterans in or around the Lewiston region. Please let me know if I can expand this list. There's a program called Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) that can help with rent assistance, utility assistance, rapid rehousing of homeless veterans, gas vouchers, and up to $1,200 in automotive repairs. They will also help with legal assistance, such as evictions or debt collection, child support, and a few other things. That's just some of the services they offer. SSVF grantees vary depending on location. The Blue Mountain Action Council out of Walla Walla is an amazing group that serves a few regionally nearby communities. Community Action Partnership of Lewiston is an SSFV grantee and case management location. https://lnkd.in/gyvmWAvG The Salvation Army in Lewiston also has a Veterans Services program, accessible via the link below, or by calling the local Salvation Army. https://lnkd.in/gFvqVZqr Again, you are not alone, and if you're in need of help, that's perfectly okay. Times are hard for everyone. As a community we have to love compassionately and help our neighbors. Additionally, calling 211 will give you an option for Veteran services. I highly recommend starting with contacting your local VA representative or advocate. They will be able to better help you navigate potential resources, and find more that I don't know about. #military #veteran #socialservices #communityresources #public #gethelp #veterancrisis #crisismanagement #billassistance #legalhelp #lewiston #idaho #lewistonidaho #clarkston #va #help #publichealth #lcvalley

A shocking 1,677 Australian Defence Force veterans and serving personnel have lost their lives to suicide between 1997 and 2021. However, volunteering for Disaster Relief Australia (DRA) has helped the transition of veterans to civilian life. Nearly 1 in 5 veterans choose to volunteer - 19% compared to 14% for the rest of Australians. The study being launched, talks about the benefits veterans & first responders experience when they participate in community volunteer programs. At its core is developing and validating the DRA Wellbeing Model, to lower the risk of suicide - which is also the main purpose of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide. https://hubs.li/Q02yz0g10 #emergencymanagement #disastermanagement #demc #em #crisis #disasterrecovery #emergencyplanning #incidentmanagement #preparedness
