I try not to favour one social channel over others but it’s hard not to insist on TikTok right now. Here’s why… TikTok drives the music charts, it dictates what we watch and wear, who we date 🚩, the water bottle we carry (it’s a Stanley 1913 Quencher fyi), the food we eat, and our water cooler chats. Just this weekend, I listened to a daughter schooling her mum in the new makeup she’d “seen on TikTok”. No other platform has had that kind of impact on what we do and buy so quickly in the history of social. TikTok drives culture and consumption 🛍️ In one of the 2024 trend reports from Amy Daroukakis brilliant bank of presentations a quote from Dieline stood out for me… “TikTok ruined trend forecasting - we’ll happily die on this hill. It’s not that “trends” didn’t exist before, it’s just that, they’re everywhere now, and we’re constantly inundated with the new flavour of the week or next five minutes.” TikTok drives culture, shapes it, catalyses it, and frankly decides what’s 🔥 RN. And in the words of Ben Francis MBE at Gymshark “If I was starting over today I’d focus on TikTok”. Wdyt?
