Annual Reminder: June isn’t the time of year to “help lift the LGBT community” by asking LGBT-owned and operated businesses, especially micro-businesses, to work for you for free or at a discount, especially if yours is a Fortune 500 company, a publisher with an annual revenue over $2BB, an internationally recognized LGBT television program or even a non-profit with an annual revenue over, say, $40MM backed by hundreds of Fortune 500 companies. If you genuinely want to show your support by using LGBT small and micro businesses, whether yours is a corporation or non-profit, and you want to help close the wage gap, pay LGBT entrepreneurs what they're worth.

Help Us Secure our LGBTQ+ youth’s success this end of year season of giving. ❤️ Our LGBTQ+ youth are at a disadvantage when it comes to accessing resources and support systems, and unfortunately, many end up on the streets without a safe place to call home. At Lost-n-Found Youth, we strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment for these youth, where they can receive the resources and support they need to succeed. This end of year season of giving, we ask that you consider donating to our cause. Your donation can help provide shelter, food, counseling, and other vital resources to our LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness. Every little bit helps and your contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of these youth. In addition to monetary donations, we also welcome volunteer support and thrift store donations. If you're interested in getting involved, please visit our website to learn more about the various ways you can help us secure our LGBTQ+ youth’s success. Thank you for considering supporting Lost-n-Found Youth and helping us make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness. Together, we can make a positive impact in our community. 🏳️🌈 #securetheirsuccess #giftgiving #giveback #holidaygiving #lgbtq #lgbtqnonprofit #atlnonprofit #atllgbtq #homelessyouth #lgbtqyouth #donating #donations #atlorganizations #nonprofitorganizations #nonprofit

WHY IT MATTERS:
Thrilled that M&T Bank is supporting the Equality Community Center with $20,000 to further their mission and important work. We look forward to partnering with the ECC throughout the year and making a difference in our community! The Equality Community Center (ECC) in Portland is the first of its kind in Maine - a collaborative workplace for LGBTQ+ and allied social justice-seeking non-profit organizations while also serving as a community center for Maine’s LGBTQ+ community. My colleagues Mike Ross, Isaac Yeboah Yeboah, Katie Rooks of M&T Bank, and Wilmington Trust's Jerry Weidner of Wilmington Trust enjoyed a tour and presented a $20,000 donation to the ECC. “The funds from The M&T Charitable Foundation will support our efforts so we can continue to provide a space where everyone can be their authentic selves and thrive.” - Chris O’Connor, Executive Director, ECC Board

On Day 2 of the 12 Days of Giving, we reflect on how crucial your support has been for #LGBTQ+ youth, many of whom experience pervasive school bullying and rejection. Our CAST (Coping and Support Training) program assists youth in four skill areas: Building Self-Esteem, Setting Goals and Monitoring Decision Making, Personal Control: managing moods, drug use and school smarts. With your thoughtful donation today, we can work towards a future where LGBTQ+ youth can access a safe and bully-free learning environment in every #LehighValley school. The future starts today with your donation at https://lnkd.in/gJUy3rNg Hashtags: #LGBTQ #LehighValley #12DaysofGiving #nonprofit #donate #giveback #givingback #community #fundraising #giving #donations #makeadifference #DonateForChange #communityunity #supportLGBTQ #communitysupport [Image description: “Celebrating Queer Joy” sits top center, the text underlined with the colors of the Progressive Pride flag. Pride Wide: Filling the storytelling gap for LGBTQIA+ equality Pride Wide is a new kind of global non-profit organization, working towards a future of freedom, equality, and visibility for LGBTQIA+ people around the world. What sets us apart? Our focus is on storytelling and engagement. Many LGBTQIA+ changemakers, while effective in policy and legal battles, lack the communication skills to win hearts and minds. This creates an opening for negative narratives to dominate the news media and social platforms. Pride Wide's solution: Compelling stories: We will counter negative narratives by crafting powerful and relatable stories about the LGBTQIA+ community. Global collaboration: Led by a global board, we bring together experts in media, business, charities, and community leadership from around the world. Experienced leadership: Our founders have a proven track record in creating engaging and impactful LGBTQIA+ content through their previous work running the much-missed global website, Gay Star News. How you can get involved: If you'd like to learn more about Pride Wide or contribute to our mission, reach out to us at pridewide@pridewide.org. #LGBTQIA #Equality #Storytelling #PrideWide #NonProfit Scott Nunn Tris Reid-Smith

Reminder: #Pride doesn't end just because June ends. At Centennial Peaks, all are welcome here - this fact is woven into the fabric of the work we do every day, not just #PrideMonth. In the spirit of continuing awareness, support and allyship, here's a snapshot of our bulletin board in our main hallway that reminds us every day. Here are five ways to continue allyship beyond the month of June: 1.) Educate yourself: Learn all about the history of the LGBTQ+ community, it's history and challenges. 2.) Donate: Give back to the LGBTQ+ community by donating to an affiliated non-profit. 3.) Increase LGBTQ+ Inclusivity in the Workplace: If your workplace doesn't have a culture that promotes LGBTQ+ inclusivity, speak to your manager about ways to be more inclusive to this community. 4.) Watch a documentary on The Stonewall Riots. Learn how it all began by watching an informative documentary on the Stonewall Riots and all the events that preceded and followed them. 5.) Be supportive: If someone you know is LGBTQ+, be a supportive friend on their journey. Though mental health is pervasive across humanity, marginalized groups tend to be at higher risk of struggling. Be an ally, educate yourself and be a good human!
