Outside of opening/closing/keynote remarks, panel speakers (4 per topic session) are limited to 15min. presentations with a collective 20min. Q&A for each topic session. So, speakers get to the point and have dedicated time for engaging discussions. No long drawn-out "let me tell me about my company" intros, long-winded monologues, or presenters reading their slides for 45-60min --- and of course, an all-star cast of people analytics practitioners to learn from and build your network.

Last night, I was fortunate to attend "DEI on the Line" at The Gathering Spot, hosted by Ryan Wilson. The panel discussion with Nzinga “Zing” Shaw, Candace M. Stanciel, M. Ed., and Angelica Geter, DrPH, MPH left me feeling... 🔗Enlightened 🔗Understood 🔗Energized So much wisdom was shared, I'll need several posts to do it justice. But one point by Nzinga particularly resonated: as DEI practitioners, we are charged with the responsibility of explaining to leaders why it's in their best interest to empower historically excluded voices in the workplace. This includes giving historically excluded individuals decision-making power, access to leadership roles, and the opportunity to deliver innovation and creativity. The bottom line is DEI is good for business. New research constantly underscores the direct correlation between DEI and stronger revenue growth, innovation, and profitability. While the human impact alone should be enough, framing DEI in terms of business value is most impactful because it’s what the corporate world understands. I’m deeply grateful for spaces like The Gathering Spot for providing safe platforms for learning, venting, and strategizing without judgment. Well done, TGS. #diversityequityinclusion

You need a professional community OUTSIDE your current workplace. Especially if you belong to a historically excluded group. You need a circle of people who are on your side, who can provide an objective point of view on your situation, and who also understand your lived experience. Your work bestie might be too close to the situation -- or it might be hard to be completely open with someone who's currently a colleague. Hello… it has been a while since I’ve been on here 🫣. One of my main social media accounts got hacked recently. While I have done all the necessary reporting, I am not counting on getting it back so soon (or if I ever will). Goes to show that you should always be prepared for the worst, no matter how “well prepared” you think you are. So for 2024, I will (try) to share more of what I am up to here. Among new things that will keep me busy for this year: 1 - being part of a new NGO for business women and women leaders, to be launched soon. 2 - launching of Referral Club for entremarketers (ask me what this is if you are curious ☺️) 3 - organizing a few leadership programs for teens 4 - planning a forum on children’s rights and development And perhaps more “surprises” to come 🤗… Anyway, it is not too late to wish everyone a happy new year! May 2024 brings more happiness and blessings to us all.
