Oxygen-deficient atmospheres are those that contain less than 19.5% oxygen. Breathing this air can cause workers to lose judgment, coordination, and consciousness and in extreme cases, it can cause suffocation and death. Oxygen depletion can occur in a variety of ways in confined spaces, but most often, it involves displacement. In spaces such as holes and pits, gases that are heavier than air gravitate to the bottom and push the oxygen above. Having the correct gas detection equipment that is constantly monitoring the atmosphere is essential. http://ow.ly/IIrl50FXEuX #gasdetection #confinedspaces

If there is a chance for increased levels of CO2 or the risk of oxygen deficiencies, fixed gas detection systems and portable multi-gas monitors can provide ample warning. However, it’s important to monitor both gas concentrations separately and educate employees about the respective hazards. Carbon dioxide might become hazardous long before the oxygen level drops to dangerous levels and low oxygen concentrations can occur due to a multitude of reasons. The correct gas detection equipment is essential for the health and safety of your workforce. The sensor is the most important component inside a gas detector. When faced with an unknown gas hazard, you need a sensor that provides fast accurate detection. The monitor you choose for detecting gas hazards in confined spaces should include sensors for O2 to detect oxygen deficient or enriched atmospheres, combustible gas to detect for flammable or explosive gases and toxic gas levels typical to confined space environments such as hydrogen sulphide and carbon monoxide. For help and advice about which equipment is right for your business, contact our team. http://ow.ly/GC5M50EJzmh #gasdetection #gasdetectors

Carbon dioxide(CO2) is heavier than air, with a density of 1.5 times that of fresh air. When CO2 is released into an enclosed or confined space, it tends to settle on the bottom of the space, reaching the highest concentration in the lowest parts of the space. Because of this tendency to settle, as CO2 is produced, it can reach higher and higher concentrations in localised areas of the space. The correct gas detection equipment is essential for the health and safety of your workforce. There are many working environments where employees need to be aware of exposure to toxic or combustible gases and the oxygen content of their immediate environment. Portable gas detectors allow individuals to constantly monitor the atmosphere so they can be alerted to any changes that could lead to exposure, accidents and even death. Why use oil-free air in your facility? There's an old phrase that is also a law of physics: what goes in must eventually come out. Compressed air users are becoming increasingly intolerant of contamination in their systems. Especially processes that require clean, dry air. Enter oil-free compressed air. But oil-free air has other benefits besides providing high-quality compressed air. It can also lower a facility's operating costs. An important feature of flammable gas, particularly in terms of hazardous area equipment, is its self-ignition temperature. This is the temperature at which the gas-in-air will spontaneously combust with no open ignition source. Hazardous area equipment such as flammable or intrinsically safe gas detectors have a temperature classification, which is the maximum surface temperature they can attain under fault or normal operation. When it comes to detecting flammable gases and vapours, every second counts. We have integrated an exhaust air guide into the catalytic combustion sensors of the CC22 ex, CC28 and CC33 transmitters. It ensures that the air heated by the measuring principle escapes upwards and the sample gas reaches the sensor more quickly. The response time of the sensor is short (t90 < 9 s), and the transmitter warns more quickly of an explosion hazard.
