Alongside MG OMD and a few other industry partners, we've successfully launched our Responsible Reach Media Principles - our way of being Up to Good in the marketing/media space. By mindfully choosing who we partner with and what channels we advertise on we've already saved 7,314kg of CO2, vs traditional media plans, for our Up to Good brand launch alone. But as a brand that’s Up To Good, we wanted to push ourselves further and deliver a net zero media plan. And that's where the Up to Good Collective Fund was born. Working with those same partners, we’ve built a Fund that's linked to our media plans, with the ambition to mitigate residual emissions that cannot yet be reduced or removed. Working with Ecologi | B Corp™, we’ll initially be using the Fund to support three verified, high impact projects that deliver both environmental and community benefits. A little bit about the programmes: - Distributing fuel efficient cookstoves in Kenya, the ‘Jikokoa’ cookstoves, reduce charcoal consumption by 64%, helping to ease the impact on local forests, and saving local families money. The stoves reduce indoor air pollution by 65%, generating health benefits for the families. All of the stoves are made locally in a solar-powered facility, which provides over a thousand jobs for local people - Installing and maintaining community water boreholes in Eritrea in Africa. One in nine people around the world do not have access to clean water. Only 19% of the population have access to clean water in this area. This project will provide long term access to safe and clean drinking water to hundreds of households. The safe water ensures households consume less firewood during the process of water purification, reducing greenhouse gas emissions - Restoring mangrove ecosystems in Pakistan. The project’s activities assist these communities to adapt to the probable impacts of climate change. The region is home to globally threatened species including the Indus River dolphin and the Indian Ocean humpback dolphin We're excited to continue this work with our partners next year to make a positive impact. Friends of Ngong River, I am reposting this video which I posted 6 years ago when I was very angry because of some good news. The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has ordered 29 companies to clean the Nairobi River in 30 days after their products and packaging materials were found to be polluting the rivers. In a statement made today, Wednesday, January 31, 2024 by NEMA, the decision was arrived after carrying out inspections at various points within the Nairobi River catchment on January 18, 2024. The inspection found assorted synthetic wastes along the river, part of which bore the identity of different producers. Our Nairobi rivers have been suffocating from pollution due to all manners of waster and NEMA seems to be doing something after inclusion of Section 13 in the Sustainable Waste Management Act 2022 that introduced mandatory Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for all products in Kenya. The 29 Companies identified are supposed to clean the rivers within 30 DAYS to their natural state. My Friends, I cant wait to do this!! I have given myself a 30 days assignment for vigil !!!. I hope nobody goes to court to stop this. My plea is Mother Nature is given HER space to breath. #water #conservation #pollution #pollutioncontrol #sanitation #waste #solidwaste #solidwastemanagement #wastewater #wastemanagement #sdgs #sdg6 #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #ecosystems #health #wealth #business #kenya #africa #nairobi #climatechange #climate #biodiversity #womenempowerement #womenleaders

📢 Supporting sustainable clean water supply 💧 in Cambodia The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade through its flagship development program, the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED), is collaborating with the government, private water operators and development partners to increase access to climate resilient clean water supply for rural Cambodians. People around Boeung Snae in Prey Veng province rely on its water for household use, farming, fishing and tourism. In recent years, the lake has come under increasing pressure from human activities and climate change, leading to water shortages for the community. CAPRED has supported storage ponds and a water treatment facility to ensure an inclusive and sustainable clean water supply, while preserving the biodiversity in and around the Boeung Snae protected wetland area. 👉 Watch this video to learn more about Australia’s intervention in sustainable clean water supply in Prey Veng. #CAPRED is funded by the Australian Government and implemented by Cowater International 👉 Learn more about CAPRED: https://t.me/capredprogram

We want to create a world where thriving ecosystems and communities can coexist harmoniously – and water is a key component to this. The Water legacy pillar of our sustainability strategy is our vehicle for reaching this goal, helping our work drive equitable access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) worldwide. Billions of people around the world still spend hours queuing at community wells or walking miles to fetch groundwater from rivers or ponds. Over 700 million people still don’t have access to a clean, reliable source of drinking water, and each year 1 million die from WASH-related diseases. According to the recently published World Resources Institute's Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas, a quarter of the world's population currently faces extremely high water stress each year, with an additional 1 billion people expected to be affected by 2050. This must change. Whilst our teams on the ground were already making great progress with local initiatives, our partnership with WaterAid has enabled us to scale that progress significantly. Only half the population in Mozambique has access to a clean water supply, so one of our first joint initiatives was the development of solar water supply systems and the repair and construction of inclusive and accessible sanitary blocks for patients and health staff in Mozambique. The DP World Maputo team also provided a water fountain that will give over 60 families access to clean water for the first time. Now, as we celebrate #WorldWaterWeek, we're excited about the next steps in our mission. We recognise the challenges ahead, but a world with clean water access is a possibility - and it’s made possible by working together with our partners. I look forward to sharing our latest water achievements with you in the months to come. #WWWeek
